“2nd Stay Just As Good As The First !!!”
Reviewed July 16, 2013 via mobile

Booked the Holly Tree Hotel at short notice after wanting to get away for the night and knew we would make the right choice in choosing this lovely hotel ! Stayed on the 14th July and booked a delux room as it was what we had last time. Arrived a bit early and was told our room wasn't ready, not a problem as we went for a drink and sat outside on the lovely decking area looking out over the beautiful views of loch linnie. The girl from reception came and found us when our room was ready and we were so happy to find we had the same room as last time ( rm 8 ) entering the room we were still so impressed by the size of it and the excellent facilities, with of course the magnificent views over the loch !! Threw our bags in the room and went for a swim and sauna which isn't always possible in most small hotels and had the place to ourselves superb ! After a dip we changed and went down to the bar where this time we decided to have dinner there instead of the restaurant and we were treated the same with excellent food and very friendly and courteous staff who looked after us superbly !! Retired to our room full and merry and had a wonderfull sleep. Breakfast in the morning was quality as we remembered and my partner couldn't resist having the porridge with glayva cream and smiled with delight when eating it !! Lots of choice of fruit or cereal and of course the obligatory full breakfast which was really good !! Again the staff were very attentive ! Checked out and said to each other we will def be back and are even talking about as soon as next month !!! Thanks again to all the staff who made our stay, look forward to seeing you's again on our next visit :-)

We were travelling for a few days around Scotland and were finding the standards of accommodation really varied and certainly the star rating system for hotels is nothing like the rating system we have in Ireland. So when we booked The Holly Tree we really didn't know what to expect especially having come from Oban were we had a poor experience of accommodation which was rated as 4 star.
We needn't have worried as the moment we stepped out of the car we were first of all taken aback by the stunning scenery and position of the hotel right on the lake and then given a warm greeting at reception. We opened our room and it was heaven! We had a lovely room with high quality interiors and a balcony looking out over the lake. The kids were ecstatic about the dvd player and the really expansive dvd library in the hotel. My husband and I sat out on deck with a few drinks overlooking the lake until it was time to come in and eat some lovely seafood in the bar. The staff were really lovely and they were all so young which made their professionalism and hard work even more impressive. We slept peacefully in our lovely beds that night and had a lovely breakfast in the Mackintosh inspired dining room next morning. We will definitely return sometime I hope.

Stayed at the Holly Tree on Sunday 7th July. It certainly lived up to our expectations having secured an a la carte dinner, bed and breakfast deal for £170. The scenery around the hotel and Loch Linnhe exceeded all superlatives, while the weather couldn't have behaved itself better. We spent a lovely few hours enjoying the outdoor terrace, while popping inside for a while to enjoy Andy Murray winning Wimbledon. Our room, number 18, was great and although not having a balcony to enjoy the views from, delivered on all other levels. The bathroom gleamed and the king size bed was very comfortable. We had a first class dinner. The langoustines were to die for and my filet steak was cooked perfectly rare, just how I like it. Breakfast was of very good quality with the early morning sunshine sparkling on the loch making everything picture perfect. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We rented the Glenachullish Bay Cottage, which is owned by the hotel, we also had use of the hotels facilities which was great, the pool was lovely, the sauna also good. The cottage was one of the best we have rented in Scotland, very modern and cosy with amazin views, we were even able to bring the dogs. The food at the hotel is superb, Highly recommend the Haggis and the steaks, the mussels and the langoustines yeah we did eat here a few times Lol.. the staff were really friendly and excellent service on each visit. highly recommend this hotel and their cottages we will definitely be back .

We recently stayed in the self catering cottages associated with this hotel and had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and our cottage was available at check in. The view from our balcony was unbelievable and the only bad thing I can say about this location is that we didn't plan enough time to stay and soak in the beauty. The cottage (2 bedroom) itself was clean, modern and all amenities worked perfectly. The only downside to our stay was that the hotel is in a relatively isolated location (about 30 minutes or so from Ft William) and so you really don't have a plethora of food options available and their own restaraunt is lovely but rather expensive. Either stock up in Ft Williams prior to arriving or plan on paying a bit more for your evening meal. The wifi was also rather troublesome as we could only access from the lobby and not in our cottage. This is probably not that big of an issue for most, but if you are a US traveler and reliant on wifi for data it can be a bit challenging.

Room Tip: 1 of the 5 lodges are available for a single night - the cost and amenities are a good value for a f...
