“Fabulous food”

We were staying in Ballachulish and looking for a good seafood restaurant. Went online, booked a table and had an absolutely fabulous meal. Starters of scallops and langoustines were lovely, the main courses if chicken & haggis and venison were fantastically delicious, with sticky toffee pudding & butterscotch sauce (x2) the perfect ending! Only regret is not being able to return until late next year! Can't recommend the Holly Tree enough. I hope the locals are aware of what a gem they have?!

Spent 2 nights with myself, wife and 17 month old boy. The setting was superb. Right on the loch with mountain and water views from room, restaurant, pub and pool. The building used to be the Kentallen train station, so train enthusiasts might find that interesting. The room was decent size for the three of us. Bed was comfortable. The hotel had quite a few toys around for our son to play with both in the bar and in the lounge. The hotel is a little drive from Glencoe but we found that refreshing and quiet. Hotel staff were friendly and attentive. I wound stay here again and would recommend to others.

We stayed at this hotel for my birthday treat and chose it after reading reviews. We arrived early and were pleased to find that our room was ready ! the girl on reception was very nice and informed us of all the hotel amenities. We were given our key and headed to our room and on entering we saw that the reviews were correct and we had the most amazing views of the loch. The room itself was big, very clean with a spacious bathroom and plenty of storage space and a large tv with separate seating area. As the hotel had their own pool and sauna we decided to try it out, being the only ones using it was great it felt like it was our own ! Pool was big and the sauna was lovely and warm great for a cold day to warm the bones. Before dinner we used the bar and again a lovely fresh area with stunning views over the loch. The hotel is an old train station and you could feel that they tried to keep the feel of this throughout the hotel. There was also a nice lounge area with an open fire where you could chill with a book or enjoy a quiet drink ! Had a wonderful sleep and in the morning opened the curtains to that lovely view again ! Breakfast was delicious and a must try is the porridge with a glayva cream. I would highly recommend the hotel and am looking forward to staying here again in the future.

We had 3 lovely days at this hotel. We stayed in one of the Captain's Roomson the top floor. Fantastic views over to the Morvern Hills. The pool was a great place to relax after a day out sightseeing and walking. We had it all to ourselves a couple of days.
The food was great. The Moules Mariniere is superb and the portions are so generous that we only ever managed 2 courses. It's worth foregoing a starter to have the sticky toffee pudding - mmmm!

Myself and my partner decided to have a mini break away and chose The Holly Tree Hotel (just outside Glencoe). The drive itself from Glasgow was breathtaking but nothing prepared me for the view across the loch on Friday afternoon!

The room we booked was one of the Captain's room with balcony. The hotel is very homely, clean, warm and it's easy to relax from the moment you enter. There was a bar and an old station room where you could sit and have a drink in front of the log burning fire! The manageress was very helpful and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.

Our room was warm, spacious and clean. The hotel is supposedly known for its seafood (not my thing) so that is exactly what my partner had for starter and main - he said the seafood was amazingly fresh and well worth it! The only down side was the speed as to which the meal was served...it seemed a little rushed and didn't allow enough time between courses. The breakfast the following morning was great too..all locally produced produce. Apart from the speed of the meal in the evening the hotel was lovely and a perfect little hideaway from the rest of the world.

Just back from a 2 night stay in the Holly Tree hotel and had a wonderful time. The room was spacious and clean. The food in the restaurant was superb and the service was really quick and staff polite. We took the bikes and cycled round the island Lismore and then enjoyed a dip in the pool and sauna. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning next year. Thanks

The setting is the thing - fabulous views across Loch Linnhe, and in summer this must be a dreamy place to be. Even on a fairly chilly October evening it wasn't bad. Inside it's vast. The dining room is decorated in eye-popping reds and blacks with little bits of Charles Rennie Mackintosh here and there to remind you this is Scotland, I hated it. Even the usual tourist-tartan-mckitsch is better than this. But it certainly wasn't driving the punters away. The dining room was packed. Our meal was OK, but I thought not quite special enough to justify the prices. My seafood platter was overflowing with fish, some of it lovely, but I have to say that not all of it tasted jump-out-of-the-loch fresh.Staff were admirably well-marshalled, but the place felt a bit machine-like and impersonal. I can't comment on the hotel facilities as we weren't staying there.
