Our 2 nights at Ardlussa House are an experience we'll never forget. We chose to stay there because it's the most northerly place to stay on Jura and we wanted to bike/walk to Corryvreckan and Barnhill. To be honest, it was a bit more than we normally pay so we dithered a bit over whether to stay there. But we left thinking it was actually a bargain. We had half the house to ourselves. The dinners were lovely, and Clare and co made them extra special by setting up the dining room with candles and a log fire. The bedroom overlooked the bay and we regularly watched deer from one window and a variety poultry from the other.
Both Andrew and Clare are lovely people - very friendly, but never intrusive. Andrew came and chatted to us a couple of times, and we learned a lot about Jura and about his job and his family - all very interesting. It was lovely to see their 'free range' children around the estate - what an idyllic childhood.
Andrew and Clare are very generous, telling us to help ourselves to the whisky, and making us packed lunches.
I highly recommend Ardlussa House. I hope to return one day.
