“An impressive house which makes you feel at home...”
Reviewed March 7, 2013 for a stay in December 2012

We were lucky enough to make our second trip to Balinakill to bring in 2013 and it lived up to all the high expectations we had for our stay there. The house has a way of making everyone that arrives feel both impressed and welcome at the same time. You have the space there to be with a large group of friends and never feel crowded. A well equipped kitchen and dining room was well used on our trip and all our group were more than happy with their rooms which are tastefully furnished in keeping with the surroundings.
A favourite room for the big kids was the bar and it has an atmosphere all of its own.
The private grounds were also a big hit with space for kids and adults to kick a ball or fly their kites.

The staff who keep everything running smoothly are very helpful, keeping a ready supply of logs for the fire and always available to answer any questions when called on.
All in all a magic place and we are already making plans with our friends to visit again sometime soon.

Liked best: The ambience of the house and the space.
Liked least: No real dislikes but we think that there is still some work to be done to fully restore the house to all its former glory. Bathrooms would benefit from more shower units.

Liked best: I dont know where to start, everything, it is magical, there was everything you could ever need and more, although if I had to pinpoint it, I would say the pub, that is in the house, we had our own pub quiz!
Liked least: The Midges! Although they only last for an hour each night....

“Fabulous house & idyllic setting for a large group stay”
Reviewed June 14, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

I was taken to this beautiful house in the heart of Argyll as a surprise for my 30th. We had around 22 staying over 3 nights, and this colossal house could not have been better for our needs.

On arrival we had a barbecue in the garden and all sat around the big table until the mid evening.

The kitchen has a large double oven and we cooked a three course meal for the party with the food we bought with us. There are lots of public rooms for socialising in, plenty of room for us and more. It even has its own small bar was great and definitely helped add to the fun atmosphere we had all weekend.

We travelled to Gigha on Sunday on the ferry which is just a short drive away from the house and crossed every hour during the day. Had a nice walk/cycle around Gigha.

The house was very clean and tidy with fresh flowers in some of the rooms, presumably picked from the garden on our day of arrival.

Anne, the owner, was excellent at responding promptly to all queries we had.

Couldn't fault our stay at all and could definitely have stayed longer, hope we can go back again, think it will be hard to find somewhere just as ideal for our needs!

“What an awesome place!”
Reviewed June 8, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

This is by far the best 'self catering' place I have stayed at so far in the UK. It has 12 bedrooms, all with en-suite baths, three living rooms, a formal dining room, a kids play room, the works...and a beautiful garden. It is literally in the middle of no where but that's the beauty, I guess. We are based in London so this is 502 miles from there...so quite a trek! There are lots of places to see nearby including Campbeltown which is about 27 miles south and lovely white sandy beaches close by. This place is very child friendly and the best part is you can make as much as noise you want... there are no neighbors to worry about!
Wow, we have had the best holiday in ages and will certainly make the effort to come back.
We were part of a group of five families with kids.
