Description: For the last two years The Green Room has been a unique spring and summer tea room that offers visitors Carradale's two greatest gifts - traditional hospitality and stunning views. Now Heather, our manager, is moving on to see the world so the tea room will close on the 16th September. From October 3rd 2014 The Green Room will be available as a self-catering holiday let. See the web site for details. The Green Room is perched on a cliff by Carradale harbour and looks across the Kilbrannan Sound to a panoramic view of the Isle of Arran. In the foreground below lies Eilean Carrach, a small island resting place for gulls, cormorants, oyster catchers, and shags. Seals and wild goats are frequent visitors and now and then an otter can be seen. Dolphins and Minke whales occasionally pass by and, when mackerel gather, gannets put on their astounding diving displays. We keep binoculars at hand for a better view. Or you can watch the fishing boats coming in and out of the harbour, passing yachts, or even a submarine. All this action takes place within the vast kaleidoscope of Scottish weather, the chief subject of William McTaggart's Carradale paintings.

“Delightful and delicious”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

The Greenroom is the new must visit venue in any weather. Visiting on the last sunny day we sat outside watched wee ones trying to play croquet then moved inside to the garden room and sat with soup and siskins inches away from us on the bird feeders.
On our next visit the weather was drizzly and we sat watching the seabirds, swallows and 4 wild goats teetering along outside the glass room. You can see Ailsa Craig when you look southwards and the Kyles of Bute to the north from the glassroom and the people before us had just seen a Minke whale!

“A wee gem!”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

This is a great addition to the lovely village of Carradale. Lovely and homely with a great selection of home baking. I'll definitely be back to try out the soup.
The glass terrace is a bonus and the binnoculars a brilliant idea. It was great to read on the wall what had been spotted that day.
Love it!

“Birds and Tea”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

What could be more lovely than having tea and watching sea birds! From the glassed in observatory you can look down at a tiny island and see cormorants, gulls and eider ducks. On the other side of the cafe a bird feeder attracts chaffinches, blue t*ts, great ti*ts and many others. (Apparently tripadvisor finds these ornithological terms offensive!)

“The Green Room - not to be missed!”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

Great food, a wonderful setting overlooking the sea, and friendly service. We had scones, the most delicious flapjacks we've ever eaten and a pot of coffee, gazing out to the Isle of Arran across the water. And then a walk to the lovely sandy beach at Carradale Bay. A fabulous day!
