As a life long visitor to the Carradale Hotel, I have to say that this is a great place to stay - pity the previous chap didnt stay and enjoy the lovely dinners and breakfasts!
This hotel, was at its best in the 80's when the West Coast was so popular with Scottish holidaymakers.
Yes, nowadays, the hotel could do with some refurbishment (although some has been done) however, it is not easy to come across a place as relaxing as the Carradale hotel these days. Days are spent golfing at the golf club on the doorstep of the hotel, enjoying drinks in the cocktail bar and conservatory. There are gorgeous beaches closeby and its only a stonesthrow away from Arran which is lovely as well.
The hotel owner takes a wee bit of getting used to (have heard him also referred to as Basil Fawlty) but he makes for great entertainment and certainly looks after his guests.
Dinners in the lovely dining room are superb - fresh local produce and cooked to perfection, all very reasonably priced.
Many visitors (not that there are that many) who come to Carradale stay at the other hotel in the village (Dunvalanree) but I can safely recommend the Carradale Hotel if your looking for a relaxing time and enjoy the Hotel for what it is. (a retreat in a small fishing village).
