“Warm and friendly staff - excellent amenities”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 1, 2013

We booked a lovely Lochside View Cabin room for New year's eve and were treated to a lovely stay. The room itself is stylishly appointed with a very modern and powerful (hot) shower complete with under floor heating throughout....a nice touch.... Satellite TV has a good selection of channels and internet access works perfectly throughout the entire complex. The bar and hotel is very warm, cosy and traditionally appointed...a real Stagecoach Inn!....I almost expected Tom'OShanter to walk in the front door. . The bar staff are very smiley and great at conversation and the bar prices are very reasonable. We had a lovely breakfast the following morning..... My advice.....try this lovely little family owned hotel. It's a real gem.

I booked here when Inveraray was not a true option for my trip, and I'm glad that I did!
My first night, I ate in the dining room/restaurant, and they had a nice roaring fire set for me. The next night I ate in the bar, which was fun with local color. Good food, the room was nice and clean, and the large soaking tub made the room totally worth it. I had a nice view of Loch Fyne, and the staff was very helpful!

A fantastic location, next to the Loch. A part of the building is an ancient stagecoach location. All room are different from each other. Good & clean beds, very good breakfast and nice and helpfull staff. In 2nd (new) building are bigger and modern rooms with balcony. Lots of carpark space.

Stayed here after booking n a whim when couldn't get into nearby Inveraray . Stayed in a lochside room , which was minus Moscow when we got in ... Well it is November , a quick fiddle with the heating and soon it was as warm as toast. Massive comfy bed , Hugh tv and fantastic views of Loch Fyne from the balcony. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was a must , didn't make use of the large jacuzzi but the rain shower had oodles of hot water .
The bar/restaurant staff were helpful and attentive , if somewhat stressed by a party of 14 for dinner and a private function , which all in the hotel were invited too !!
The food had the charm of a home cook rather than a rosette restaurant and the 'cheese' sauce with scallops seemed strange! That said the steak ie was delicious and tender as was the excellent pork fillet in hazelnut crumb . Quirky but good. Would recommend and visit again . Breakfast was plentiful , tasty and efficient.
The only down point was the dog hair n the bedroom carpet - but it is a rural inn

Have stayed at the cairndow inn a couple of times whilst climbing in the area, this time stayed with a friend. We both had great rooms looking over the loch with double beds, just what you need with tired legs.

Steve the chef has retired now , but there new chef and Craig produce some great food, and there is iplenty, especially the Sunday lunch

Thanks again for looking after us both, and see you all at the end of November

Paul and rachel

Room Tip: All good rooms, but the new loch side are worth a little extra

All the staff are freindly and helpfull and the bar is stocked with the very best including Fyne Ales
The restaurant food is first class and perfectly cooked ( well done chef) Steak cooked to perfection
Breakfasts are very good with best Black Pudding ever
Over- all this is the place to stay on Loch Fyne and we will definately return soon.

We stayed for 2 nights from 12th-14th October and we were happy with what was provided. We were allocated one of the rooms above the restaurant and it was perfect for what we needed. Yes, in some places there could be room for a little updating but the view from our room was outstanding, right across the loch and i would rather have that then a modern room any day. The building obviously has a lot of history, so much so that i was half expecting a couple of horses pulling a coach with men in top hats turning up in the middle of the night..! The whole place has a really nice old fashioned character and was impressed with how friendly the staff were and how creaky the floor boards were. On both nights we ate in the bar and thought the food was excellent, if not a little pricey. I wouldnt hesitate on recommending this hotel for anyone wanting a quiet getaway.
