“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

If you are anywhere in the Aberdeenshire are this is one place one has got to visit. Its a short 30 min scenic drive from Aberdeen. Its a great little distillery, one of the oldest and easternmost in Scotland.

The staff is friendly (What else do you expect in Scotland?) and the guide was very good and took his time to explain everything in detail and willingly answered all questions.

The gift shop has nice souvenirs and of course Glen Garioch whisky to buy.

The place is magical. Enjoy the wee dram at the end of the tour.

“Friendly, local, amusing and great whisky!”
Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

Having planned to go to one of the larger distilleries in the area, but being thwarted by snow-closed roads, we ended up at Glen Garioch almost by default, but we were very glad we did.

It's a very local, almost family run place - nothing like the scale of something like Glenfiddich or Royal Lochnagar, but all the better for it. We ended up being the only ones on the 3pm tour, run by Frank, which was not so heavy on the process of how whisky is made; but more heavy on amusing local tales and history of the small distillery (with some lessons in local Scottish sayings).

At the end there was some generous tastings, and we purchased a bottle of the wonderful 12 year old malt. Definitely support this small distillery by visiting it if you're in the area!

“Fascinating, interesting and fun!”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

We are so pleased we visited the fascinating distillery at Glen Garioch! Four of us were looking for something a bit different to do on our weekend visit to Aberdeen. We had intended driving to Balmoral but the weather was too bad so decided to try out Glen Garioch. I knew we'd made the right decision from the moment I booked the tour by telephone - the booking was taken by an extremely friendly lady who could not have done enough to help. I booked a wee tasting tour (2 hours) which started off with a taste of one of the distillery's premier whiskies, followed by a video showing how the whisky is produced at Glen Garioch. We then had a fascinating tour of the distillery, by an incredibly knowledgeable lady who made learning about whisky production both fun and very interesting. There were further tasting opportunities along the way. The visitor centre allows you the opportunity to purchase Glen Garioch products, with helpful advice from their friendly team. Thoroughly recommended.

“Glen Garioch tour”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

Four of us spent a very pleasant and informative 2 hours with guide Fiona. Our visit was between Christmas & New Year, so the distillery itself was closed, but we got a very interesting tour of the open parts of the operation, and several excellent tasting samples. Fiona's passion for the product and the industry were really contagious. We had a wonderful time, and felt that the experience was a great value.

“Great distillery and friendly staff”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

Visited last Thursday and were the only people on the tour. Frank, the tour guide, was excellent. Constantly adding little comments that brought the tour alive and interesting. Great tour and great whisky - for £5 you need to do this tour. Last around an hour and then you a taster - the 12 year one is definitely worth trying and buying!
