“terrible customer service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2009

Very rude managers of hotel. I'de paid 75.00 pound for a double room and also 13.00 for a bunkhouse room for my friend. made to feel very unwelcome when we arrived by bikes. asked the son of manager if we could leave our bikes undercover as there was a severe weather warning and it was pouring of rain. he seemed totally put out by this and only when I insisted did he let us put them in a shed where they keep the wood which he was worried that might be moved. My friend then went to the bar in hotel where he asked for a pint of beer to which the same guy said he couldnt have one as he wasnt a guest as he was staying in the bunkhouse, not the hotel. This was sorted out when i appeared and said ide paid 75.00 for a double room. I was then approached rudely in the hotel by a man who said to me "who are you"? i replied i was a hotel guest which seemed to appease him. Ten minutes later the same man came up to me in the drying clothes area and asked who i was again. By now i thought i was on some wind up tv show. I replied ide just met him and was a hotel guest to which he replied that you can never be too careful knowing who people are!!
The hotel was also very noisy at night, overpriced and without any doubt, for my friend and myself the worst customer service we have ever experienced in a guest house or hotel. Go at your own peril..

Just spent 2 nights here as was attending a wedding at Braemar castle. the hotel is well placed in the village and its easy to wander and explore. A quaint hotel with victorian style rooms, very spacious and all the in room facilities you need for a short stay. The window had been opened before our arrival as it was a reasonably warm day, so the room was nicely aired. Quiet and comfortable rooms.
The breakfast was delicious, a full cooked english breakfast and a selection of cereals, toast and tea. The staff were great very friendly without being imposing. They accommodated our late return from the wedding reception too no problem. They also have the largest selection of whiskeys in the area.
The lodges also within the grounds looked very nice and they also have a"bunkhouse". Would stay there again if touring/visiting the area.

We had the chance to stay in the small cabins next to the building itself. It's just the perfect place if you are a group of people or a family and want to spend your evening by yourself.
Our little lodge called "Glenlivet" was clean and really nicely furnished. There was a kitchen and everything to cook for the evening meal. Really worth if you are a budget traveler.
In the morning, a very tasty cooked breakfast was served with the other clients in the hotel.

I went to stay in a small beautiful village called Braemar with a group of close friends we had a magnificent time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Braemar Lodge. Throughout my stay here i found Braemar Lodge to be very accomadationg, the staff extremely helpful, the food brilliant - the best i have had yet on my travels! The bar is exceptionally cosy and has the largest selection of whiskies i have ever encountered!! I would recommend this hotel to everyone!!

Braemar and the Braemar Lodge are situated in one of the most beutiful places in Scotland and it seems all in the Village want to keep it for themselves. Braemar Lodge proved a serious anomaly on our golfing trip of Scotland. The attitude of the staff at the lodge was less than helpful, no eating in the bar, no food after 9 p.m unless its a heftily priced steak, and fines for every minute your late for checking out, but wait theres more, your heater requires pound coins to be used... As mentioned an anomaly compared to all the hospitality we received all over the rest of Scotland, try another option is what I'm suggesting to my friends and family.

we arrived at the hotel with our 4 year old daughter and 9 month old son in tow and were staying at the self catering accommodation on site 'the log cabins'. first impressions very nice from the outside, not sure about the christmas twinkle lights though. the cabin was nice but lighting within was very poor. the cabin smelt a bit to be honest, not awful but stuffy we would have appreciated a few open windows before we arrived. it was very clean and to be honest no real grumbles apart from the bed - it was awful, springs in all the wrong places and the pillows well put it this way it felt like pieces of cotton wool that had been torn apart and put into clumps, hard clumps at that - you know what i mean when you put pillows in the washing machine and dont come out the way you had hoped. so that was a real downfall but believe it or not, we would go again but next time we would take our own pillows!!

Whilst the poor little shower needed at tad more pressure, the welcome was simple and the room was cosy.

Best of all was the evening experience of drinks in the cosy bar and excellent meal and this was followed by a well cooked tasty breakfast, all of which were provided with the personal touch of the owners and their attentive staff.

Good place.
