“A cosy wee gem”
Reviewed January 28, 2014 via mobile

We really, really liked this place. We had initially booked to stay in the bothy, and on arrival Jennifer showed us around the room etc., and it was really sweet although a little smaller than I had realised when booking. We were skiing for the weekend and had a lot of stuff so I thought I would check to see if we could upgrade to the ivy cottage guest cottage instead. Jennifer was extremely accommodating and allowed us to move and pay the surcharge the next day. Considering she had set the bothy up for us, it was very nice of her to allow us to do this. The bothy was very cute and completely sufficient however the guest cottage was just great, we were very pleased we chose to move. The wood burning stove was very much enjoyed and added so much to the coziness of the weekend. The bed is gigantic and very comfortable. The kitchen is more than sufficient and we cooked fajitas, cooked breakfasts and steaks with no problem. A word of caution though, the check out time of 10:30 is very strict - I woke feeling very unwell and my partner asked if we could possibly have an extra 30mins to sort ourselves out to which he was told no, that would not be okay. That did sour our experience a little bit as Jennifer had been so accommodating otherwise. However we really did have a marvellous time and I would recommend this place to anyone. We will likely go back.

At the time of reviewing the Ivy Cottage has 36 excellent reviews, and this will be the 37th!
Jennifer made us feel extremely welcome and cooked an excellent vegetarian breakfast complete with Granddad's homemade strawberry jam :o) Our room was well proportioned with a good sized bathroom and had everything we needed, the bed was extremely comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. We'll definitely be back!

We rented the (self-catering) small cottage. It has a living room with kitchen, and a bathroom on the ground floor. The bedroom is upstairs.

We really enjoyed it. It is clean, cosy and has everything you require for a very comfortable stay, including a wood-burning fire. Everything is provided to a high standard - the big bed is very comfortable.

It is located in the centre of the village- right next to the Tourist Information Centre. You are only 1 minute's walk from the shops.

Braemar itself is a beautiful little village and the people are very friendly. We were here during the off-season so it was very quiet - but we found it very peaceful. The countryside and the mountains are beautiful, and it was quite a sight to see it covered in snow.

I would recommend this place to anyone, and I expect that we will go back.

There´s simply nothing to improve: good location for exploring the Deeside and for skiing, still quiet, cosy house, every detail thoughtfully and tastfully arranged, comfortable beds, delicious meals (don´t miss the dinner!!!), interesting books, lovely fireplace, space for car and equipement (skis etc.), AND an absolutly cute dog called Hamish (only to meet if you wish)!
Best wishes for a successful future!

Jennifer's beautiful B&B in Braemar was our first stop on a 3 week adventure in Scotland after leaving our friends home near Stirling and it could not have been better!! The location is ideal, the rooms beautifully furnished, sparkling clean and our bathroom one of the largest in our travels stocked with every amenity needed. Jennifer's breakfasts were superb, beautifully presented and kept us going long into the afternoon. The homemade treats left in our room were just what we needed after returning from a day out. When we brought back a bottle of wine, Jennifer cheerfully chilled it for us and supplied lovely stemware in the lounge where we enjoyed a glass before heading to dinner. The only downside to our stay was having to leave after only two nights! We will definitely return to the Ivy Cottage on our next trip to Scotland! Thank you Jennifer for all you do to make your guests feel more like family!!

My wife and I recently stayed here for three nights. The B&B is ideally located within the centre of the beautiful Braemar Village. There is ample parking outside the cottage and across the road.
We were welcomed by Jennifer who was a fantastic host. The cottage is very cosy and the rooms spotlessly clean. The breakfast each morning was second to none. We needed to leave Braemar early on our departure day. Jennifer cooked us breakfast earlier than normal and also checked that the main road to Edinburgh was clear for us as it had been temporarily closed the previous day due to snow.
I would definitely stay here again.
