“Wonderful stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2014

Loved our stay. Enjoyed the conversations we had with our hosts Liz and Andy. The furnishings in our room were perfect. Bed was super comfortable. Breakfast was very good, no waiting involved. Great suggestions on where to eat. Strongly recommend staying at Callater Lodge with its warm hospitality.

This property is a wonderful place to stay in Braemar. Liz and Andy are welcoming, friendly hosts anxious to help make your stay the very best it can be. The rooms are well appointed with tea/coffee making facilities, wifi, and a good sleep assured on the comfortable bed. There is an excellent guest lounge and a wonderful range of hot and cold foods for breakfast. We will return when next we stay in Braemar.

Our thanks to Andy and Liz for a sod earful 3 day stay at their B&B in beautiful Braemar. The rooms are not huge, but they have everything you could need and are very comfortable and cosy. The breakfast was very filling and a good way to start the day. I would also like to complement Liz's cooking.... Still the best soup I have had in ages! Both Andy and Liz went out of their way to be friendly, informative and and help us with anything we needed for our daughter.
We wish we could have stayed longer!

We just stayed here one night but enjoyed it and would stay again. Andy told us a great walk to go on that was close by so we could stretch our travel legs and also made good suggestions for supper. The room was spacious, clean and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was good and the tea hot and strong as it should be. A bigger selection of fresh fruit would have been welcome.

We chose to stay here for a week for a walking holiday, encouraged by the positive reviews, and they are all true! Liz and Andy were perfect hosts, warm and friendly, the room was generously proportioned, very clean and comfortable; breakfasts were delicious and there are numerous local walks. Andy was happy to suggest a few that didn't appear in our guide books, even taking the trouble to print one off for us. Braemar is also very well positioned for further exploration in the Highlands. Would recommend and return without hesitation!

We stayed at Callater Lodge for 4 nights and couldn't have been happier. Andy kindly stayed up late to let us in after our late flight and got us settled quickly in a lovely room with plenty of space for all our kit and a bath I knew I was going to appreciate after skiing.
The food was great. Plenty of choice for breakfast and plenty of it. I recommend the porridge followed scrambled eggs and salmon! We even opted for soup and sandwiches in front of the fire one evening which was just what we needed.
Andy and Liz were full of suggestions (and a few warnings) of where to eat and where to walk (including maps) when it was too windy to ski. They really have thought of everything including a big warm drying room which was much needed after a day skiing in lovely Scottish weather.
We will be back next year.

I stayed at the Callater Lodge Guest House with my boyfriend for three nights. It was exceptional value for money and we will be returning very soon.
The location was fabulous being just 5-10 minutes from the biggest ski resort in the UK. Perfect for us.
We were given a fabulously friendly welcome by Liz and Andy who were perfect hosts. First impressions are everything and we weren't disappointed! We were advised on places to eat and places to avoid which was really useful and also given hints as to places to see and visit.
Our room was large, clean and well equipped. We had a wonderful view of a snow topped mountain. The bed was very comfortable and the room was always kept warm. The en suite was also lovely with a bath over shower.
Breakfast was perfect with something for everyone's taste. Cereals, yoghurts, and fruit juices were provided to help yourself. Followed by your choice of continental or cooked breakfasts.
The saying "little things go a long way" is very apt at the Callater Lodge, as even the small things made us smile. Things such as mints at the side of the bed every day and packets of biscuits (which were heaven after a long day skiing). Also things like Liz and Andy remembering whether we wanted tea or coffee in a morning.
We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to stay during our visit to the Cairngorms, a visit made all the more special by perfect hosts. Thanks again!
I would definitely recommend Callater Lodge to anyone wishing to stay in and around Braemar.
