“Friendly and Welcoming Guest House”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Met by Sarah the owner with a glowing smile and a friendly welcome. Sarah made us most welcome firstly making a nice warm drink with fresh home baked cakes..........just what we needed after our long journey.
Sarah went through the guest house amenities, village amenities and showed us to our guest room. The room was cosy, spacious, clean and very inviting. The room we had was equipped with Sky TV, tea-tray and hairdryer. The en-suite was clean and well equipped with all the essentials required for our stay.
Breakfast was delicious with a choice of times and food and plenty of it. There is also a sitting room that can be used to relax with internet access and you can even enjoy a wee dram of whisky with donations to a good cause! Excellent for cyclists as there is cycle storage and a place to dry out your clothes.

I would recommend a visit to this lovely guest house, it's worth a visit just to meet Sarah and to enjoy her home-baking...................treat yourself next time you are heading to Braemar.

Room Tip: The room we had was the Stewart, lovely and faced onto the main road which was very quiet. I am a l...

Thanks for your feedback.
Glad you had an enjoyable stay.
The homemade cake always goes down well after a day on the hill!
Cheers,

We stayed here (fourth year on the trot now) for an annual birdwatching trip. Sarah and Al couldn't have been friendlier and more welcoming. Coffee and tea was prepared for us when we arrived and she made some fruit cake for us. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and the beds are comfortable. Everything worked in the room as it is supposed to. The breakfast was excellent quality as it has been every year.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good

We had nicer and lovelier B&B during out trip trough Scotland.
There was just the love missing in the whole B&B. Our rooms were very cold but clean. The Breakfast was big and ok but nothing special here as well. So friendly recomendations for the area or simmilar (pubs, restaurants, walks, sights,... nothing).

Room Tip: Especially the twin room was very cold and nothing special or nicely decorated.

Oh dear, we are not sure what went wrong here as we are not used to this kind of feedback.
We feel our warm welcome is one of our strong points, so are really sorry you feel there is no love in our home.

We are passionate and proud of the stunning and special area in which we live, work and spend our free time. The Cairngorms National Park is a unique and beautiful place and we hope you will return?

Best wishes,
Sarah and Al

Alistar & Sarah were really welcoming, the bedroom was lovely and warm, breakfast was to die for and Sarah's home made cakes left in our room everyday were delicious! Had a lovely few days skiing and would definitely go back. Thanks again for making us feel really welcome in your home!

Stayed only for one night during a skiing weekend with hubby and 2 friends - wished we could have stayed longer! Easy parking on arrival. Warm greeting with tea and coffee, and great advice as to where we could have dinner. Double room for hubby and myself was large with enough space for our stuff. Lovely clean bathroom with hot water and fluffy towels. Sky TV and wifi available. Also, tea, coffee and hot chocolate facilities in the room with homemade cakes. Great pillows on the bed and enough blankets to be cosy. Breakfast was well cooked and abundant - took us an hour to eat it slowly :) The salmon on toast was impressive :) Definitely recommendable and would stay again :)

Thanks for reviewing your stay at Cranford.
Really pleased you enjoyed your brief stay with us.
Skiing is still really good at Glenshee, so there's still time for another ski weekend away ;)

We spent five nights at Cranford and absolutely loved it! Our room was comfortable, warm and pleasant, perfect for relaxing after a day out in the mountains. It really felt like a home from home. Sarah and Al were wonderful hosts and made us feel extremely welcome. They were also very generous with their local knowledge and advice about the area, which we appreciated enormously.

The room was a good size but - better yet - had been thought out and designed ideally for people travelling with a lot of gear/layers etc. (we're snowboarders - I'm talking a LOT). We could stow everything away and not feel as if we were sleeping in a kit room; invaluable if your holiday involves outdoor activities, and all too rare in other accommodation. There's a drying room as well. The setting is idyllic. Several times our morning departure was delayed because we HAD to watch the red squirrels, and the views over the woods and mountains are glorious.

Breakfast was absolutely excellent and we returned in the afternoon to delicious home made cakes. We've recommended Cranford to several friends and are already looking forward to our next stay!
