We travelled with Shearings and had a nice midweek stay at this 3 star hotel. Overall we found it friendly and adequate for our needs. Location is great, close to the small village with plenty of walks nearby.
Our standard room had lovely views out towards to the mountains and Braemar Castle and had all of the necessary amenities, plenty of tea & coffee replenished daily. Towels were changed on request, the heated towel rail a bonus, also the bathroom looked as if it had been recently refurbished. Only downsides being our wardrobe door hinge was broken and carpets quite worn. In fact, the worse wear and tear was evident on the staircase carpets and scuffed walls, definitely in need of replacement and upgrade.
We found breakfast very good with a wide choice and the evening meals, again with choices, varying from average to excellent, with ample portions. The majority of staff were of Eastern European origin and were all very pleasant and helpful.
Entertainment was in a quite small room every evening, generally enjoyable and varied, but you could use the 'Tartan' bar or free wi-fi available in the lobby lounge. However, we thought the drinks prices were a little steep.
The area is one of outstanding beauty, the Linn of Dee, Glenshee, Pitlochry & Balmoral to name a few within easy reach. Shearings were very efficient and our driver Debbie was safe and informative. All in all, a great break at a bargain price.

Just spent 5 days again at this lovely hotel situated in beautiful Braemar. Staff again were welcoming and very friendly we were allocated a room which had only a shower and my hubby prefers a bath on returning to reception the lady on duty soon found us an equally nice room with a bath, without any problem. Room was soon lovely and warm, beds very comfy, bathroom was a bit chilly with only a heated towel rail but this wasn't too much of a problem. Great value for money and we will be back as we are determined to return when the local golf course is open. Added bonus we woke up to snow on the morning of our departure, travelling home through glem shee was magical.

Just got back from Braemar staying at the invercauld arms, we went with Shearings coachs. The hotel was very good we had a room on the ground floor. It was very big and spaceous but the bathroom was very cold no heating in at all only a heated towel rail. That would be the only fault. My husband is a Coeliac and has to have gluten free food we told reception when we arrived and was asked to inform the waiter in the restaurant. This we did and from then on my husband was brought gluten free bread at breakfast (toasted) and at the evening meal the waiter came and told my husband which meals from the menu he could have. There was plenty of choice at the evening meal and as we were sat by a large bay window we had a beautiful view. All in all it was a good break especially Shearings driver Debbie she was fantastic very entertaining. One of the trips was to the Lin of Dee the scenery was out of this world, we saw herds of deer and 3 beautiful stags they just stood and watched us. Also included was a trip to Aberdeen we took the optionally trip round the city which was very inlightening and down by the harbour we saw dolphins and seals.

Just come back from a Shearing's break. The hotel is lovely and the staff are friendly, helpful and always smiling. Our room was huge, lovely and warm and spotless. Good size bathroom with bath and shower but very cold! There was a heated towel rail so the towels were always nice and warm, you just had to be quick . Well stocked tea and coffee making facility in the room and a nice flat screen television.
The hotel is very cosy, two comfy lounges, one with open fire. The bar has tartan carpet and tartan chairs giving a real Scottish feel. The bar menu had a good variety of food at very reasonable prices, we did not eat in the bar ourselves as our meals were included but the meals we saw being brought in, looked and smelt delicious.
The dining room was a lovely room with views of the mountains. The food was the usual Shearing standard, some good some not so good but the portions were a better size than in other Bay hotels we have stayed at. I just wish we could have been served tea and coffee at the table after our meal, so much nicer than the scramble to help yourself to rather stewed tea in a corridor.
The hotel is a two minute walk from the shops and the river and about a fifteen minute walk to the castle.
We didn't get to see any of the entertainment as the room does not have many seats and unless you get in there right after your meal and are prepared to sit and wait for an hour or so, you have no chance. This is not a fault of the hotel of course as they can only do their best with the rooms they have.
Over all we loved this hotel and hope to be back again soon I think it is the best of the Bay hotels we have stayed in in Scotland.

Spent 4 nights at The Invercauld Arms on a Shearings holiday 5 day break. This hotel is surrounded by breathtaking scenery and the village of shops, which includes a Pharmacy,Post Office & Co-op Supermarket/Newsagent is a 2 minute walk away.We were greeted by a roaring fire in the reception lounge & warm, hospitable staff. My room was spacious with twin beds, plasma screen tv,radio/alarm clock & hospitality tray.Pleasantly surprised to have a bath & a shower with plenty of towels,& with freezing temperatures outside, the room was always warm.Breakfast consists of porridge, cereals, yogurt, toast& a cooked breakfast of bacon, eggs, tomato, beans & hash browns with a vegetarian option or kippers also on the menu. You also get a pot of tea or coffee & can help yourself to bread rolls & fruit.Dinner is 3 course affair with a starter of soup, pate or salad. The warm stilton & apple tart was delicious.Main course is fish, meat, vegetarian or salads. The cheese salad was very filling. You get a choice of hot or cold dessert,or cheese & biscuits. You help yourself to tea & coffee outside the dining room. The bar has comfortable tartan chairs, with an entertainment lounge, reading room & reception/tv lounge. The evening entertainment is “man with a guitar” kind, but the overall atmosphere in all the lounges was warm & relaxing. The entire stay was thoroughly enjoyable & I would recommend it to anyone. Can't wait to go back.
