My husband booked a weekend at the Invercauld Arms as a Birthday Treat. Our room,No.52,was twin bedded, mismatched shabby furniture, and the carpet was not clean.Shower only, no bath,Shower clean, but no Shower Cap,no shower gel etc,got shower cap from reception and a sliver of soap!!. Food was fairly good, dining room service good.
I must comment on the fact that what appeared to be "cleaning cloths" over radiators does not create a good impression either.
I could not recommend this hotel to friends coming from overseas later this year.
Booked through Shearings ,have used them before, but doubt if we will again
Mrs C Morrison

Room Tip: View from Room 52 very good, but room furniture shabby

Firstly thank you for your comments; we appreciate praise and criticism as it ultimately improves our service. I am pleased you enjoyed the meals in the restaurant and found the service to be good. I must apologise for the cloths been on the radiators and I have spoken to housekeeping regarding this as it is not a good impression.

Jane

Just back from weekend at the Braemar Arms in Braemar Boyd & Betty Hamilton ML3 7A
Staff excellent
Room fantastic enogh space to hold a party
Food really good value
Wine cost more than reasonable
Bar prices very good for a hotel
Lift needs to be found not too clear but it does go at a reasonable speed Strathpeffer pay attention
Entertainment on the Fri was with Young Harry good country music with wry humour well done dont know how he survives at the top of Glen Shee in that tin can of his
Sat evening excellent programme from Robbie Carran kept us in fits with his music and humour---watch the 4 door action really hilarious
People complain but at this service quality for the price it cant be beaten go elsewhere if you weant to complain
Werll done Bay hotels again
We are off to Obann to see if they can beat trhe Braemar will take a lot

Room Tip: I think you will be happy with the large room accommodation we stayed in 11 but view was at the rear but it was for sleeping not looking out of window all day

Had a bite in the bar three times during our stay in Braemar.
Not a large menu, which can be good, but the food was second to none. Well presented and good size portion. After a day on the hills a simple burger with all the trimmings was amazing.
The young lady and gentleman in the bar are a credit, welcoming and friendly. Will definitely call again.
Good value for money compared to other places in Braemar.

Spent the holiday weekend ( Friday - Sunday half board ) at the Invercauld Hotel Braemar, Scotland. The hotel is an old period property with lots of character spread across three levels with numerous stairs. One lift serves the upper floors so patrons could have a lengthy walk to their allocated room.
The Staff were excellent and attended to all of our needs, the food was first class, varied, and served piping hot at the table. House wine reasonably priced at £14.99 per bottle.
Our room No.36 was clean and tidy although the bathroom left a lot to be desired with cracked and broken tiles and an extremely annoying noisy overhead expelair fan motor.
All in all, good value for money and would return again.

Room Tip: For people with mobilty problems - choose an upper room near the lift.

We were on a Newmarket 5 day holiday to Royal Deeside. The Hotel was changed about six week before we went on this holiday. The hotel is large and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. We had a large twin room in the front of the Hotel with a lovely view of the mountains in the distance. The room was clean, beds very comfortable and there were extra blankets which we used as it was cold. The ensuite bathroom had a shower over the bath and was adequate. Unfortunately, the food is not up to the standard one would expect. The breakfasts offered a choice of hot and cold dishes but we found when we ordered poached or boiled eggs they were cold and hard. The quality of the bread was poor as were the juices. Why do hotels have to water down the juice? I would rather have less choice and good quality rather then the opposite. The dinners were really poor, my husband had lasagne one evening which came swimming in fat and another evening he had braised steak which was so tough he couldn't eat any of it. I had a vegetarian dish one evening which included goat's cheese which was the size of a pound coin. We didn't go expecting gourmet food but at least good food cooked well. The Hotel is well situated for discovering this area of Scotland and we had an excellent Tour Guide and coach driver. It's a shame to have to complain but it you were travelling independently and had booked half board you would be disappointed with the food.

Room Tip: Large twin room at the front of the Hotel.
