Lovely area, beautiful beaches, Rayburn not in use due to being turned off for previous people.. glad they were hot..shame we couldn't benefit from that. Linen is provided but I suggest you use your own, as slightly precious of it!
Peaceful as the neighbours / owners went away, there is an open fire place, but weren't told of this, which again would have been lovely as weather went very cold.. and with no heating.. not great.
Lovely area, feel slightly over priced at £100 a night.
Glad I booked early!

I will say only one word to this review RESPECT!!! House was left dirty blood on my sheets and fake tan on the other! Dirty socks, sweaty papers and stickers everywhere. Took me two days to clean out the house.

Jane and her family were extremely welcoming and helpful. The accommodation is comfortable and cosy and the Raeburn in the kitchen was extremely welcoming on cooler days.
The walks from the house in either direction are very beautiful and not too strenuous. We were mesmerised by the sea tides and the beautiful beach. It was particularly good not to have to use the car to go out every day as this is our fifth holiday in Sutherland and we just enjoyed walking in the peace and quiet of the seashore and hills.

An amazing find!
A couple of minutes to walk onto the beach yet the house remains silent and there is rarely a passer-by.
The house is fantastic and is everything you'd ever want! Modern and equipped with all the facilities yet has a feeling of home.
A short car drive away is the Old School's restaurant and slightly further afelid is Smoo Cave and Cocoa Mountain.
Would definitely recommend this property!

“Little gem in a great location”
Reviewed July 17, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Really enjoyed our short break to this lovely, comfortable and well equipped cottage. Beautiful views from the cottage to the secluded Polin beach, only a 5 minute walk from the front door. The cottage is in an ideal location for exploring this lovely part of the country, plenty options for walking, including a visit to the spectacular Sandwood bay and Durness , with the beautiful Balnakeil bay and Smoo caves, only a half hour drive away. There is a small but well stocked shop in Kinlochbervie and a couple of options for dining out. We had a lovely meal at the Schoolhouse restaurant which is approximately 3 miles from the cottage. The owner ,Jane , lives next door and gave us a warm welcome and was very helpful regarding inquiries about the area. We hope to return to Polin Beach house again

Reviewed September 1, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Luxury well equipped cottage with fantastic views of secluded white sandy beach and sea. Quiet location in very small hamlet sea views with plenty of walking in area. Amazing wild flowers in sand dunes. Owner, Jane, who lives next door is very helpful and caring. Aga providing central heating, washing machine, television in lounge and bedrooms, DVDs provided. Lots of local information. A truly lovely comfortable place to stay.

“Comfortable cottage in a stunning location”

This cottage is quite simply the perfect location for a peaceful relaxing holiday. Located in the small community of Polin, near Kinlochbervie, with beautiful scenery and magnificent sandy beaches.

There is plenty to do in the area, including visiting Sandwood Bay (accessible only on foot but well worth the walk), Handa Island (short ferry trip), Cape Wrath (ferry+bus), Smoo cave and Balnakeil Craft Village in Durness. Walking can be done right from the cottage or further afield for the more adventurous. Or you can relax completely in the lovely secluded garden to the rear of the cottage. We managed to eat a few meals outdoors, table & chairs provided. Midges were not a problem.

Polin Beach House is very well equipped and comfortably furnished. Both bedrooms have a sea view, good storage and extremely comfortable beds. The sound of the surf lulls you to sleep at night and you wake to sheep bleating from surrounding hills. No traffic, nothing to disturb your rest. The kitchen has a Rayburn stove which makes it very cosy, great for drying clothes on the airer and wet boots, too. There is a washing machine and large chest freezer. There is a downstairs toilet with wash basin and the upstairs bathroom has a shower. There are TVs in the lounge and bedrooms, and a selection of DVDs, games and books. Wifi is free and worked well during our visit, however there is no mobile phone signal in the house. The owner lives next door and is very friendly but unobtrusive.

Kinlochbervie has a small Spar supermarket with a cash machine and is only a short drive away. There are a few eating places within easy driving distance.

An idyllic holiday location for couples or families. Polin beach is 5 minutes walk from the cottage and Oldshoremore just along the road. Whether you want to get away from it all and unwind or need a base for an active outdoors holiday, Polin Beach House is ideal. After a week I did not want to leave and cannot wait to return.
