“Scottish Welcome/Poorly Lit Room”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

We enjoyed the Livingston M8 Junction 3 (Deer Park) and received a friendly and helpful stay from all the staff. For the price, the breakfast and bar prices were reasonable. As we had eaten earlier we did not have dinner but the variety and cooked to order breakfast were good. The restaurant was very clean and had head height glass partitions for privacy. Our main criticism was lighting in our bedroom-room 104. We had to swivel the bed lights at an angle to try to read on the bed as we couldn't focus on the desk. Otherwise it is the usual standard that we have come to expect from Premier Inns.

Room Tip: Apart from the lighting, the room was ok and although over looking the road it wasnt noisy.

My husband and myself stopped here for two nights recently. The room was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. Although we could hear traffic noise in the distance, this did not impact upon our sleep. Breakfast on the first day (Sun) was not as hot and tasty as on the the Monday, and this was probably due to lack of staff and anticipated high footfall in the breakfast room. We had a lovely stay here, and it is very handy to get to Uphall train station, whereby at the moment one can park free and then get the train into Edinburgh. The staff at Livingston were so friendly and helpful. We love the Scottish scenery and would stop here again when visiting the area. Thank you Premier Inn.

I often use the Premier Inns throughout the UK and like them. But this time the lighting in room 32 was appalling. I needed to work at the desk which involved computer work and reading papers.

Firstly the desk was the wrong way round, so I could not get my legs under the desk. That was easily resolved, I just turned the desk around.

Secondly the lighting was so poor I had to ask for additional lights. Unfortunately none were available, so I purchased one from a local shop, it was the only way I could do any work.

The receptionist did say that they've had repeated complaints about the room lighting since the lights were changed, but nothing had been done.

If you are planning to do some work at the desk then either take an additional light or choose another hotel.

We stayed here previously and it was amazing - we rebooked on the strength of our previous trip and it was a mess...

On arrival - we couldn't get booked in, computer (or operator) problems, had to go back later, the room was dirty and had no pillows - went to reception to ask for pillows to be told they thought the might be out - pillows did turn up eventually.

We were put in a room by the main reception door (Myself, my wife and 2 young kids) the traffic going to and from reception kept going until after midnight - didn't sleep much

Breakfast used to be a buffet and was brilliant for families - this time was waitress service and a disaster. - we had to wait for ages for the food - there were no glasses for the OJ no hot water for tea, poor selection of everything else - food took 25 minutes and was wrong - too hungry to send it back - and they had no staff on - less than 10 guests in the room and 3 waitresses strugging to keep up.

Tried to claim the good night garuntee the next morning to find nobody at reception, she'd gone to help in the dining room .

Worst night in a permier inn ever.

Room Tip: stay elsewhere!

The hotel was good location for Edinburgh Zoo. We also went to Blair Drummond Safari park which is easy to find and just about 35 mins away in Stirling - Excellent day out. Next door to premier inn is Ten Pin Bowling. Staff were excellent, especially Christine who served us breakfast for 4 mornings. Beefeater pub on site is a bit pricy not much choice for kids. Kids got easter eggs on arrival at reception. There is a shopping centre 3 miles away in Livingston with loads of shops, Vue cinema and loads of places to eat.
