“A night over...”
Reviewed June 12, 2012

We had a prompt check in and the room was made up ready for a family. It was unfortunate that there was no information pack in the room but reception were quick to get a menu to us (but we didn't get an information pack.) The room was large and the bed comfortable but generally the room and bathroom looked a bit tired.

We used the swimming pool which was small (we were fine with this) but really cold. It was so cold that our smallest only managed to stay in for 10 minutes before we had to warm her up!

The bar was nicely furnished and pleasant. We decided to eat in the restaurant as the children ate free (under 4's eat free.) However, had we known that there was 3 coach loads of people also in the hotel and they came to the restaurant at 7pm (and there simply wasn't enough serving staff on) we would have eaten out. The staff were lovely and informative (and we really felt that they were being put on my the hotel mismanagement of the coach guests.) The food we had was well cooked and tasty. There was also a nice wine choice too.

Overall, I would happily go back to the hotel (but I wouldn't have dinner if there were coaches in the car park.) The staff were really lovely and helpful.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room and could hear the person pacing the floor above us.

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed the stay. Staff were friendly, food was nice, beds were comfy, room was spacious (double bed room, called a studio room), bathroom had big shower, clean & tidy. TV, hair dryer, trouser press, hangers, tea, coffee, water & biscuits all in room. Ate evening meal in the restaurant on one night and the food was very nice. Close to large ASDA and shopping centre, cinema etc. easy access to attractions of Edinburgh and surrounding areas. No bad points.

The hotel is tired and in need of an updating. The family room was spacious, okay beds but it has gone a little long since the room was decorated. That said it was clear throughout. Service was good and staff friendly. Food wa excellent. We had dinner in hotel and suprised how good it was. They also could do childrens portions of everything on the menu rather than just chicken nuggets etc. Breakfast was also good, good quality food and a good variation. Location is ideal for shopping centre but probably a little far out for edinburgh. We stayed one night, would think it is okay for a couple of nights but probably a little limited for any longer

We are constantly making improvements to the hotel and decorating is ongoing. I am sorry that we have not yet got to the room where you stayed.

I was very please to read that you and the family enjoyed your meal and that the team were able to offer the children a variety of options, we try to be as flexible as possible. We have recently launched a new menu which has been well received and have improved our breakfast selection too.

I hope we can welcome you back to the hotel in the future.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in May bed and breakfast with the first nights dinner included.
Room was a good size with 2 separate beds for children. That was where it ended. Old fashioned with stains on the ceiling, top of the curtains covered in dust and appeared that it had not been updated since the 90's. We had to buy a fan as no air conditioning in the room and the window only opens around 2 - 3 inches.
Reception area appeared new and pool area was very good. Staff helpful at reception and in the restaurant. Food was good for breakfast and the one evening meal we had, although the 1980s furniture could be better.
Was then disappointed to return home and find that I had been charged for the first nights meal although it was included in the rate. When I did contact the hotel the refund was quickly arranged.
Great location for the M8 motorway and access to Edinburgh with a large Asda and retail park just over the road.

Stayed one night at this hotel...was pleasantly surprised as we got it for quite a good price. Room was very clean and spacious...disappointed there was no biscuits in the room though:( lol! Tried to have a wee bit o banter with the receptionist....she wasnt for having it though...could maybe be doing to brush up on her people skills. Apart from that...a good night was had...not too far from the shopping centre and plenty of restaurants to eat at....dont remember much about getting back at night but remember i slept like a baby:) Would definately recommend....but bring your own biscuits:)
