“A Peaceful Haven”

We like staying in quiet places and this guest house was ideal, being situated on a peninsula outside Tarbet.

We had a very comfortable one night stay in the Blue Room on the second floor. There is a little residents' lounge here, complete with a beautiful Lewis Chessmen set, which we made good use of. The room was lovely, with small welcoming offerings of sherry and malt whisky awaiting our arriival. Breakfast was the most choice-filled we've ever experienced and was excellent. Our hosts offered a warm and helpful welcome. We look forward to returning.

We came back to Harris for the 2nd time and looked for somewhere we had not stayed before.
We did the research and stayed here for 6 nights. They are very welcoming, the rooms are great and the location on a quiet little loch is beautiful and peaceful. Breakfasts are very good and set you up for a day walking, wildlife watching or sightseeing. We chose to stay close to Tarbert as last time the dinners in the Hotel Hebrides were good, however the restaurant was closed because they did not have a chef, so the choice was a bit limited, but that is nothing to do with John and Marlene who are very welcoming and full of helpful local knowledge. They were not responsible for it snowing in May! We love the island and will be back to Harris some day.
Their pricing is at the top end of the range, but the quality is excellent.
Oh, and they have Sky TV in the lounge
Highly recommended.

This is a warm B and B in every sense of the word. We stayed in the very comfortable blue room - 2nd floor - which had a spacious, light shower room with its own opening roof light. There is a lovely guest lounge on the first floor with a selection of good books (it would benefit from extra lights to make reading easier for all in the evening). There is a second small lounge on the 2nd floor for 2nd floor guests. Useful for conferring. It was cold for May but the heating regime was such that we were always comfortable. Breakfasts were superb. If you like salty porridge, this is for you. (Only one little quibble - they forgot biscuits in the room on our last day.) Restaurants are a few minutes drive away.

This is a very special place! The hosts make you feel very welcome. The house is emaculate and spotlessly clean and every detail is catered for. The breakfast is epic and beautifully presented.
I can truly recommend it. We stayed 3 nights and would stay again. It is a beautifully renovated 3 storey house with a beautiful view over a loch. The ferry is 5 min drive away and the choice of local restaurants 5 min drive away in Tarbet.

We booked Ceol na Mara Guest House in Tarbert, Harris through Booking.com as a one night stop in our touring holiday in the Outer Hebrides but how we wished we had time to stay longer! We stayed in the Blue Room and were very impressed with its beautiful furnishings and quality bedding - a little bit of luxury after driving through some wild wet and windy weather! The breakfast menu was another highlight of our stay and we spent ages choosing from the mouthwatering selection and it was an absolute delight in the morning - so glad we were catching the late morning ferry and had time to linger! Would not hesitate to come back again!

Ceol na Mara Guest House is one of my wife and I favorite B&Bs on our Scotland trip this past May. We had the Blue Room, which was very cute and had complimentary whiskey/sherry. Marlene and John were both very nice and sociable. The price of the B&B is more expensive than other B&Bs in Scotland, but appeared to be the going rate for rooms on the Isle of Harris. The landscape surrounding the B&B and the Isle of Harris where small rocky hills with small ponds. It felt like being on a different planet in a very fun and good way. We were a little hesitant in booking this place at first after reading some of the poor reviews on Trip Advisor. All we can say is that this B&B made our trip enjoyable!

Room Tip: We liked the Blue Room. It is on the top floor. If you have a large bags, a lower floor room might b...

This is exceptionally good accommodation. Much more than a B&B. Superbly comfortable, spotlessly clean, totally relaxing, with first class facilities. The location is excellent, so peaceful yet very near Tarbert where choice of evening meals is good. The breakfast choice is beyond comparison with any other B&B visited, the produce used is excellent quality, beautifully cooked and presented. Marlene and John are brilliant hosts and we are made to feel so very welcome each time we visit. We have visited once each year for more than ten years now and at the end of our week leave, reluctantly, feeling all the benefits of our stay. Superb in every way.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, each with a different character.
