The accommodation is first class - beautifully furnished but at the same time comfortable and welcoming and that was matched by the friendly hospitality of the Mitchell family. It was the attention to detail that made this so special, from fresh milk in a small fridge in the room, lots of books to browse through, Sky television to the most wonderful breakfasts which - as well as the usual fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals and "full cooked" etc - featured home-made bread and wonderful smoked fish. The location is very convenient to the local port and is most attractive. They even arranged for an otter to be passing through the grounds as we arrived! What service!

One month ago we returned to Austria from a fantastic week on the Hebrides (Skye, Harris, Lewis). We spent one night in "Ceol na Mara", Tarbert. It was one of the best B&Bs we have experienced. John and Marlene Mitchell are excellent hosts- great hospitality, delicious breakfast, the room was quiet and spacious, equipped with TV and mini fridge, with stunning views over the loch. The room was clean and fresh throughout with comfortable beds. We really enjoyed our stay.

A very warm, helpful welcome from John, some simply delicous and beautfully presented cooking by Marlene for breakfast which was hard to be bettered, a lovely setting and close proximity of Tarbet for Supper , made this a very satisfying visit as part of a trip up the Western Isles .

If only the quite small forth bedoom had a en-suite every room would be as good as one another , all together a super experience . Well recommended.

Stayed for two nights whilst visiting my daughter and her family who were renting a cottage on Luskentyre beach. Room first class as was the extensive selection of breakfast options. The owners , John and Marlene could not have been more helpful in every respect especially regarding local points of interest etc.
A couple of reviews posted were obviously by people who did not take the time to talk to either John or Marlene on any of their concerns, had they done so I am sure their issues would have been addressed.

An excellent B&B a couple of miles outside Tarbert, excellently located for exploring Harris. The owner, John, is very welcoming and helpful, even taking us to our restaurant for our evening meal and picking us up, so we could have a drink, and not have to bother with taxis! The room was fine, and the breakfasts were delicious

This didn't just exceed our expectations it shattered them. The accommodation was immaculate, with thought through layouts and infiinite attention to detail. The beds were the comfiest we have stayed in, the guest lounge was lovely with some great books. The room had a wee dram of whisky and sherry to welcome guests too which was a lovely touch. The breakfast was amazing and again immaculately presented - it was the best porridge we have ever had. However, the best thing were the hosts who were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. My Mum loved it so much she wanted to barricade herself in. Can't wait to stay again and will route my travels next time to make sure I can.

Room Tip: Any room would be good

Ceol na Mara Guest House is without doubt the best B+B we have ever had the pleasure to stay at. We were there in July 2012 and were very impressed with the kindness and professionalism of John and Marlene the gracious hosts. The bedroom was spacious and immaculate in every detail and, for the breakfast, I have been to some of the best hotels which could not provide such a well prepared and varied menu. We look forward to a return visit in the future and would have no hesitation in recommending Ceol na Mara to anyone thinking of going to Harris. The scenery is outstanding all over the Island but particularly from
Ceol na Mara with peace and tranquillity exactly what we were looking for.
