Fantastic cottage in the most fabulous surroundings. Would highly recommend and will definatelty be back
This was the first time I had booked through Tripadvisor so I was a little nervous! We booked for a fortnights stay over Christmas and New Year and Janice was kind enough to allow us to take our two dogs. We arrived on a very windy day and it was lovely to find a welcome tray (with biscuits!) waiting. The cottage is lovely - a welcoming kitchen diner, comfy beds and a lounge with an amazing view of the sea. Wavecrest is warm and welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only issue was the lack of wifi. I know that Janice had tried to get this fitted and we had booked on the understanding that there would be wifi. Janice has kindly offered a small refund which we were grateful for. Overall, Id happily recommend Wavecrest as a great place to stay and explore Skye.
Wavecrest is a great cottage ,except for Wi Fi it has everything you could need. Understand this is due to be installed by BT in November so that will make it even better. It is clean, cosy and comfortable with great views over Staffin bay.
Janice, the owner, was great to communicate with and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here.
Just north of Staffin, Wavecrest is a well equipped cottage which provided comfortably for the five of us (2 adults, 3 teenagers) plus family dog. The view over Staffin bay from the living room is hypnotic and very relaxing. The house is also located very close to the Quaraing the main car park for which can be reached in about 45 minutes walking. The house was very comfortable and enough space for 5 plus dog but 6 may be a bit of a squeeze. As others have noted the garden whilst fenced off, doesn't present sheep getting in and is rustic in nature so unlikely to be able to let your dog run free but we found that a minor issue overall.
We had a wonderful week at Wavecrest. After a boiling summer at home in Italy we appreciated the fresh air and rugged nature of Staffin. The house is simple yet cosy with all the amenities one might need. The view from the livingroom is beautiful. We spent hours every day on the beach which became our own special and private place - we only ever saw 2 other people there. We went rock pooling, walking, searching for fossils and making stone sculptures. Staffin is off the tourist route it is WILD, WINDY, and WONDERFUL. We will be back.
We loved our stay at Wavecrest. We enjoyed watching the sheep and cows in the front fields and our walks on the beach. We had fun attending the ceiligh in town. Spent most of our week exploring the walks within a 10 mile radius of the house. Just lovely. We had a few questions for Janice but didn't have a phone to call her so communication was a bit tricky for us. All in all a great stay.
Wavecrest is a lovely comfy cosy cottage nestled into the countryside overlooking beautiful Staffin Bay on the North edge of Skye. The views are not only of the bay in front but also all around with the impressive Trotternish Ridge and Quirang behind you. Lots of walks nearby and plenty of wildlife to see (even from the lounge windows). There are no pubs nearby and therefore not many places to eat out and nothing after 8pm. but Columba1400 and Ellishadder Art Cafe serve good food.
