I stayed at Sconser Lodge on business and the owners were friendly and accomodating without being in your face. My room was at the front of the property and I had fantastic views across to Raasay as hotel is right on water side. Well worth asking for a front facing room.

Decoration inside is typically Scottish, with lots of tarten and dark wood, plus a gorgeous raging fire in the bar during the evenings.
I ate breakfast and dinner here and the food was delicious!!! Even though it was a small menu due to being out of season there was plenty of variation and everything was thoroughly delicious. Put on far too much weight!!!!

Would definately stay again if in the area.

We were expecting great things from the room with the 4-poster bed, the best room in the Hotel. Unfortunately the room was not as clean as you would expect, the drapes round the bed were covered in a layer of dust which was several days old and the mirror was not clean either (I was tempted to write 'Clean me' on it when we left). The sofa had a removable cover which was stained and the bath mat was a rag rug and therefore not washable, a terry towelling rug would have been better. The only thing which saved the hotel from a terrible mark was the fact that the food was delicious. We would not go back and would not recommend this hotel to others. There was no form to fill out when we left otherwise we would have filled it in.

I wanted to find an old hunting lodge style hotel to give some Dutch friends - well travelled but unbelievably on their first holiday in Scotland - an idea of the place. Requirements were - good location and vistas, cosy and well stocked whisky bar, ambience and welcoming proprietors. We hit bull's eye on all these, but more so we enjoyed a standard of cuisine which was outstanding, never mind for a family run hotel. The quality of food was exceptional, especially the seafood, and was prepared without fussy addition.

Debra and Philip were congenial hosts and after many years of clinical intercontinental hotels it was delightful to watch that mix of improvisation and dediciation which makes for individual service.

The Sconser Lodge Hotel delivered good value for money.

We spent 2 nights on Skye staying at Sconser Lodge. The price was higher than we thought it should have been, but the view was wonderful and the Debra & Philip were extremely friendly hosts.

Adjacent (within walking distance) to Isle of Skye golf course, this kept my husband entertained (good place to start in Scotland golf tour) until 22:30 with the summer sunset coming so late. Myself, I enjoyed the close proximity to Portree and hiking to see the Old Man of Storr.

The rooms were somewhat plain in this very old building (a MacDonald's clan hunting lodge). Try to get a room overlooking the Sound of Raasay--unbelievable views! Breakfast was fantastic, among the best we had in Scotland.
