“good place, lovely position”
Reviewed November 10, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Lots of space. All rooms except the kitchen have stunning sea views. Clean and well equipped.

The down sides: poor lighting in the living room and inefficient heating (perhaps it did work well but we didn't manage to work out how to control it).

“Central location, great views, big bedrooms; wouldn't hesitate to recommend.”

This is a great rental property. It is situated very close to town centre yet quite peaceful. Views from the upstairs bedrooms are lovely. All three bedrooms are spacious. It is furnished well throughout and spotlessly clean. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property. Sue is very easy to deal with and extremely pleasant.

“Good Cottage”

We stayed for a week in Brightwater Cottage. The owner Sue was very easy to deal with from the initial booking onwards. There is parking across the road from the cottage. The spaces do fill up quickly particularly around tea time but we were fortunately never stuck without a space though maybe not just directly across the road from the cottage.
As someone who used to own a holiday home the cottage felt like we had 'come home'. It is very clean and the kitchen is well equipped. The tv has freesat and all the UK channels anyone would need particularly on a wet day! The wifi worked well. It is deceptively large inside and the rooms are all of a good size.
The cottage is a short walk into the centre of Portree and there is a coastal walk a short distance in the other direction. Would recommend.

“Perfect location to base your Skye vacation!”

Owner responsive and accommodating. In the town of Portree on waterfront byway with spectacular views of the bay and Ben Tianavaig. Close to town center and 2 minute walk to restaurants and grocery, but around the bend from all the commotion keeps the evenings quiet. Small sign on front of cottage identifies it as a rental. We had a few knocks on door from people looking for a place to stay. One person walked in the front door before we could answer the knock. Just lock the door. It's a great spot. I would recommend to friends and family and easily return myself for a long stay.

Great weather, good central location, shame about the unusable garden space, access treacherous and garden completely overgrown.. Lounge Seating very uncomfortable

Management Response
May 31, 2016
The cottage is not advertised as having a garden for guest use. We don't promote it as being accessible or managed as it very steep ground at the back of house.

“Great cottage, with stunning views on a beautiful island”

Arriving at the cottage we were able to park easily on the road opposite. We like to stay in high quality places and our expectations are always pretty high so walking into the cottage we were extremely pleased with what we found. The cottage was absolutely spotlessly clean from top to bottom, beautifully furnished in all rooms and very comfortable.
There was only the two of us so didn't use two of the bedrooms but the view of Portree bay, Ben Tiannavaig and across to Raasay from the master bedroom upstairs is simply breathtaking. You really could sit there all day and just admire the view.
The lounge has two lovely sofas and a log burning fire which, whilst not essential due to the heating, made the room even cosier. A great place to relax after a cold day outside with a nice glass of wine !
The kitchen isn't huge but has everything you could possibly need and includes a dishwasher which is always welcome.
Another real bonus is the proximity to local restaurants, shops, walks (from the doorstep), harbour and not to mention several local hostelries. Some of the main restaurants still hadn't opened but we did eat in The Bosville which was excellent, good food, decent prices, great service and very nice atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
All in all we had a great trip, loved Skye, but more than anything we were so glad we decided to book Brightwater Cottage, will definitely be back.

We stayed over Christmas and well into the New Year and I can not express enough how much wie enjoyed our stay. The cottage is accessed directly from the sidewalk, but the little traffic did bot bother us at all, besides the cottage has fairly new windows, it is really not loud. The views from the living room and the bedrooms are simply breathtaking (if you are an early morning Jogger: jogg through town to stand at the top of the hill behind the cottage - marvellous! And on the way back you can get fresh Rolls from the co-op for your Family!).
The cottage itself is well equipped and has this homey feeling that prevents you from worrying about touching anything in case you might break something (especially those travelling with small children know what I mean ).
The location is ideal for short strolls into town, hiking trips or to get to anywhere else on the Island by car.
