“Cosy cottage in the perfect setting!”
Reviewed June 5, 2018 for a stay in June 2018

We absolutely loved our stay in this cottage in Camustianavaig! The cottage has the perfect amenities available and is in a fantastic location to explore the beautiful island of Skye. We went at the start of June and had glorious sunshine and enjoyed warm days - although some midgy repellant is handy if you are out and about later in the day in the day. The cottage was spotless on arrival and was very inviting. The kitchen is well equipped to allow you to cook up your evening meals, there is a cosy log burner with enough wood and instructions to get you started on a colder night, a selection of board games and dvds are on hand for guests to enjoy in the evening with a glass of wine and there are freshly laundered towels and bed linen to cosy down in at the end of a long day. You can see the sea from the front window and the cottage is a short walk to Camustianavaig Bay where you can sit and relax by the water or venture up into some of the nearby cliff walks. With easy access to the main roads you are within a reasonable distance of lots of local attractions including Portree, the Fairy pools, the Cuillin range (for a more serious hike), the Old man of Storr, and the Oyster Shed (a hidden gem - some of the most amazing freshly cooked local seafood, reasonably priced and amazing views!) We also visited the renowned Michelin star Three Chimneys Restaurant which was a little further away in Dunvegan at just under an hours drive, but well worth the visit and you never get bored of the amazing views along the way! The local people are just lovely, happily giving you a wave as you pass them by and sheep and local wildlife wander freely nearby too, it’s just so quaint! We are missing it already and can’t wait to return! Thank you.

“Perfectly located, cosy traditional cottage”
Reviewed June 1, 2018 for a stay in May 2018

The cottage is located in the Skye's heart, only a few miles from Portree. We could get to the main attractions within ~30-40 minutes drive: Old Man of Storr, Fairy Pools, Fairy Glen, Talisker Distillery, Coral Beach etc. There are a small village and a nice beach nearby (you can see the sea from the window), so the cottage is perfect to enjoy a calm stay and truly rest from city noises. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the fireplace and traditional decorations make you feel cosy and relaxed. We'd love to come back! :)

“Perfect Fit”

Perfect location, perfect size (for us two) and perfect for Portree.
We actually got married in the cottage - and whilst you couldn't perhaps have made that work with a guest list of 100, for an elopement style wedding it was divine.
We were able to relax, chill out with a run before the event, invite photographer and stylist in to help my wife get ready and still feel at home.
Its perfectly situated close to Portree but still remote so you get the best of Skye. We even got lucky with the weather - gorgeous bouts of sun and atmospheric showers to add to the occasion .
We are outdoorsy folks and we would definitely return here and make the cottage a base for climbing and walking - at any time of the year. Knowing you can return to an open coal fire and a hot shower combined with the memories from a perfect day - how could we not?!

“Brilliant retreat in gorgeous cottage!”
Reviewed April 11, 2018 for a stay in October 2017

Gorgeous cottage in beautiful setting! The view from 1/2 of 12 Camustinavaig is breathtaking and the cottage is such a brilliant retreat from the chaos of everyday life! It has lovely double bedroom with comfiest bed and cosiest sheets with a view from bed of the grounds of the Croft and the bay! The bathroom has a bath and shower, with loads of hot water. The best bit though is the living room with its wood burner! There is nothing better than a sherry (old school!) by the log burner after a day exploring Skye. Kitchen is well equipped, including washing machine, so it’s easy to cook something up and enjoy. My 7year old even fished her own mussels from the bay which we cooked that evening! The Croft is in a gorgeous bay (overlooking Rassay and if you climb Ben Tianavaig you can gaze over the sea to Portree) and only 5 miles from Portree. There are amazing beaches nearby (Braes beach) and such a brilliant spot to explore the rest of Skye (fairy pools, Old Man of Storr, climbing Cullins, dinosaur footprints on Staffin beach...the list goes on!). I can’t wait to return this year!

“Perfect base for exploring Skye”

We have stayed in Camustianavaig twice now (September 2016 and September 2017). Just what you would imagine a beautiful highland croft to be.Comfortable and cosy with everything you could possibly need, Situated in a lovely location, only 5 minutes drive from Portree. You can take a lovely circular walk around the village of Camustianavaig which take around 20-30 minutes. A perfect 'get-away-from-it-all' holiday and it is pet friendly! We look forward to going back.

“Perfect Cottage to Stay to Explore Beautiful Isle of Skye”

We stayed at the cottage for 3 nights in early January 2018 and has to be one of my best holidays in the most beautiful part of Scotland. We arrived at the cottage late at night and we put on the wood burn stove using the kindling, coal & logs that were left for our arrival and there were even instructions on how to make a real fire! We made some dinner using the oven, hob and utensils which were all easy to use and drank some wine and listened to music. There is a TV but it was really nice just to sit and relax. The bed was very comfy and we had the best sleep as it is so quiet. In the morning, there was the most amazing sunrise and I got some incredible pictures and was funny to see sheep in the garden. We drove around Skye to explore and do some hill walking and would stop off in Portree to get supplies for the night back at the cottage. The second day we got up early to go to the Quiraing to watch the sun rise, we were the only people there and it was breathtaking. We then drove down to see the fairypools and then over to the Neist Point Lighthouse for sunset. We finished back the cottage to relax by the fire and enjoy cheese fondue with some wine, it was the most perfect day!

We had a great time. A great place to set up base if climbing or walking in the Cuillins. Very relaxing and lots of wildlife, seals in the bay, hawks. Great views of the bay. Lovely coal & wood burner. Pet-friendly which was appreciated. Good value. Comfortable, cosy & we will be back.
