We traveled by train to Kyle of Lochalsh, then took the bus to Portree. We were pleased that the Caledonian Hotel, known locally as the Cally, was only about 100m from the Square in Portree where the bus stops.
If you enter from the street, beside The Caledonian Cafe, three flights of stairs await you before you reach the bedrooms. However if you enter from the car park, at the rear of the building, only one flight of stairs will be necessary.
We received a warm welcome, indeed the staff were very helpful throughout our stay.
The bedroom was of a good size and warm, with the usual tea/coffee provided, as is free wi-fi and free landline calls.
Each morning the breakfast was excellent, well cooked and presented.More
