“Beautiful property but be sure to ask about the room you're getting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 16, 2013

We had two rooms on the main floor - what are described as "premier double rooms". The rooms do offer wonderful views of the water and hills in the distance, particularly in early morning/dusk.
One of the rooms we were assigned was an unwelcome surprise - the room and bath were "accessible" (mobility-impaired) and the shower/sink arrangement was difficult to work with and frankly detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay. Also, be aware that the hotel turns off its boiler at night - meaning no hot water very early in the morning.
On a positive note, the rooms themselves - which are fairly modest in size - are nicely furnished, and the bedding (duvets) was spotless.
While the rooms offer tea/coffee-making facilities, there is no mini-fridge, and you will not find an alarm clock. The hotel does have wi-fi, but the download/upload speeds are very, very slow.
Parking is ample (in front of the hotel and around back).
The hotel is wonderful for use as a base to explore the Isle of Skye (we took day-trips to Dunvegan Castle and to Uig for a day-trip ferry ride to/from Tarbert), the people working at the property are pleasant and helpful, and we wish we had booked a longer stay. We recommend this hotel to you.

We checked in, the regular receptionist was out with an emergency, we got a room, we booked a queen/king and got a regular, we went back to the desk and the clerk happily put us in a suite, it had been leaking due from heavy wind and rain, but it didn't while we were staying there. The room was huge, the bathroom very nice and the bed was comfortable. It was better than expected. We didn't eat there, but wish we had due to the great reviews. I would return here if I had a chance.

We had help with our luggage which was a nice touch. Great Staff.

Stayed for one night in late August. It is quite pricey, but the location is lovely and the hotel itself has a real old world charm about it. Our room was huge (no idea whether this is the case throughout the hotel) and very comfy and well appointed. Its just a 5 minute walk into Portree and there is a lovely walk the other way along the coast

My boyfriend and I went there for a meal for his birthday. The location and view is hard to beat and very romantic. We were greeted by very pleasant staff who couldn't have been more helpful. we sat and had a cocktail first and looked at menus before being taken to our table. The choices on the menu were great and we were hard pushed to choose. We both had three courses and wine and it was all beautiful. Could not fault it. We will be eating there again!!!

We stayed here last year and were so pleased we booked again for a couple of nights. Very pleasantly surprised to find that the bedrooms have been upgraded with superb new bathrooms too. Service as usual was provided with a smile and by professional staff and although the menu is a little limited the food was of a good standard. Worth a visit as Portree is a good base from which to visit parts of Skye. The hotel has great views over to the harbour area but you will have to pay extra for that view from your room I suspect. Excellent parking facilities and access to the hotel.

Room Tip: Few rooms have views over the bay so specify one if you like a room with a view.

While this woudn't be considered a 5 star hotel in the states, it certainly was a great hotel with the most stunning views in Portree that there could be. It is a quaint place where everyone does everything. Our scotch guide, was also our waiter, who also delivered our bags. The food was very good and the service was great. They even had free wi-fi. I would totally recommend them for a nice relaxing getaway.

This hotel had wonderful views of the Portree harbor. Our room was clean and well appointed. The one big negative for us was the lack of an elevator which made carrying the luggage a bit difficult. The breakfast was good. I thought the staff was helpful and they were generous in their recommendations for other area restaurants.
