This apartment is very conveniently located near the town square. Rooms are ok, furniture basic but adequate. I think compared to other prices on Skye this apartment is a good deal.
The bathrooms really need an update. One shower was working poorly and when e-mailing the manager about this we were told that it should work fine. (Which it didn't.) So no solution offered there...
The working of the hot water and the 'storage heaters' is complicated and we really missed having an easy instruction for using all the switches and heating units in the rooms.
Confusingly, also known as Apartment Bridge. I WOULD NOT recommend this place. I felt so bad that I'd paid good money to stay here. It is in serious need of refurbishment and not worth the money. The showers were old, old fashioned, and didn't work properly. The decor is poor. There is no central heating, but storage heaters! The whole place felt damp and uncomfortable. It looks dilapidated and feels it. It provides basic level of care and amenity.
In my opinion the main picture misleading as this is not your garden it belongs to the flats above. On arrival we found 2 campers in that garden who were using a shed to change. They stayed overnight which made us as a family feel uncomfortable as they had a clear view into our apartment. Our garden and entrance was to the rear. The apartment was clean however required up grading. The showers were old fashioned/broken and there was no central heating, only storage heaters.Blind required repair also.
Overall in my opinion extra effort and upgrading is required in order secure rental.
Disappointing place to stay.
Large, light and airy ground floor apartment 150 metres from the centre square of Portree. We had absolutely glorious weather and the village had everything we needed within walking distance - shops, pubs, restaurants. The two rooms have excellent beds with good quality cotton sheets, and the bathrooms good quality towels. Friendly neighbours. Someone plays a guitar and fires up the bagpipes each day, which was no problem for us. Parking right outside the door. As well as the tourist information brochures the owners have gone to the trouble of printing off lots of local walks which was very useful. All these things really made a difference to our stay.
Cheaply solved issues - the mugs were a bit too small and have those tiny handles that make carrying hot drinks a bit of a pain, the frying pan is warped, there isn't quite enough cutlery and eventually someone will get stuck in the bathroom as the door handle is losing its turn. The en suite shower and towel rail didn't appear to work, unless I was missing a switch somewhere, but this wasn't a problem for us. There is a garden but I wasn't sure if we could go in or not.
Overall this was a 9/10 stay, and we would definitely come back.
