It's been almost 1.5 years since we were at Kiltaraglen for 4 days during our honeymoon in September 2011. We still remember this wonderful place and its unique surroundings.
It's a romantic hideway with the most friendly hosts one can wish for. We had a double room with shower, comfortable, cosy and clean. The breakfast/living room is also very nice and the breakfast was fantastic, loved the fresh fruit and the black pudding as well!
Colum and Rachel were also very helpful providing information about the isle. There were maps and books about hiking which also gave us some inspiration on our stay. Sanja and Ben

Thank you both for taking the time to review Kiltaraglen. Calum and Rachel are currently running a ski chalet in France for the season, but will be delighted to hear of your comments on their return in April!

We are so pleased that you had such a wonderful time and we really do hope that we have the opportunity to welcome you back to Kiltaraglen.

Thanks so much. Best regards from us all in Portree

I stayed here as a B&B guest during a very wet and wintery November week.
Accommodation - My room was perfect. Super comfortable bed, nice tasteful furnishings and an ample supply of tea, coffee, hot choc (and sometimes delicious home made biccies). In my limited experience it's unusual to not have a TV in the bedroom. This turned out to be a real treat as it meant there was no TV noise upstairs. The house also boasts a fantastic spacious lounge with an enormous TV and, a real treat during my stay, a fabulous log burning stove. I was really spoiled for comfort.
Food - There was an excellent range of cereals and juices etc available, before tucking into an outstanding cooked breakfast. In addition, special treats were on offer such as spiced plums and other fruits. In all honesty I have a rampant appetite but after my breakfast I spent the day exploring Skye and didn't eat again until evening.
Hosts - My hosts are the perfect B&B providers. Attentive, pleasant, friendly, courteous, professional and never intrusive. When you're told to make yourself at home, it's genuine.
Location - The house is a 10 minute walk from Portree centre and excellent located for exploring any part of the island by car. The surroundings are beautiful and very peaceful.

Highly recommended!

Room Tip: I had the double with shower. Lovely!

Thanks so much for the great comments.

I'm glad that the log fire helped to make up for the 'Autumnal' weather you experienced and we are glad that you would visit us again. I enjoy providing a selection of breakfast goodies and was pleased to hear that you got through the day on our breakfast!

It's a real pleasure to hear that we are stepping up to the mark for our guests!

Best regards

Accommodations were a bit tight, and the bathroom in our unit really needed some updating. Lack of a mirror proximate to the sink made shaving difficult. Also a gap behind the sink swallowed my toothbrush, and when I went "hunting" for it I found numerous other items which had been dropped at one time or another! We must have had one of the smaller rooms, as ours doesn't correlate with other reviews on this site. It could be because we were only staying one night that we got a smaller room versus others. It's a nice property, and maybe one of the better in the area, but not a 4-5 star review compared to others we've stayed in on our Scotland tour.

Thanks for your review, it helps us keep tabs on what folk want when staying with us.

Sorry you found the mirror to the side of the wash basin inconvenient, we agree with you that the bathroom is ready for updating.

As this part of the house is over 200 years old, we are stuck with the low ceiling height and very restricted in what we can do, but we are pleased that you found the room clean and we were 'nice place, nice folk'.

As we only have three bed and breakfast rooms, we do try hard to make our guests comfortable though as it is also our family home, we don't profess to be anything but a small and welcoming B & B with Self Catering accommodation.

Thanks for taking the time to give your honest impressions for our other guests.

Best regards Pam, Kevin, Calum and Rachel.

We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The welcome we received was second to none - thank you so much for meeting us off the bus and arranging the champagne and chocs. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts excellent.

The annexe is a small apartment with two flors. The ground flor has a kitchen, living room and bath room. In the other room, it has a bedroom with a bath inside of the room. Bedroom has 3 windows and it is very big. It is a some km of the center of Portree. It has wifi free.

We were staying in a twin room with private bathroom at Kiltaraglen House. The room was very spacious and overlooking the garden. The private bathroom was across the hall, but again very spacious and wonderfully decorated. Free wifi was available.
A very comfortable guest lounge with fireplace was open at all times, and we were kindly invited to use the house phone to arrange our ferry bookings. The hosts made us feel very welcome.
For breakfast orders had to be handed in the evening before, breakfast was excellent.
Portree is within easy walking distance of around 10-15minutes.

I would defenitely recommend this Kiltaraglen House!

My partner and I have just returned from a fantastic 4 night break on Skye. We had high expectations of our accommodation but I can’t express how lovely it was! We stayed in the Holly Annexe, which has a little sitting room complete with TV, chess set and a toasty fire. The kitchen was really well equipped, the bedroom so comfortable and the bath….HEAVEN! The bath-robes were such a lovely touch and even a welcome bottle of wine! I was very, very impressed and would recommend to everyone visiting Skye to stay at Kiltaraglen! Thanks again to Pam, Kevin, Callum and Rachel for making us feel so welcome.

Thanks so much for the lovely comment. We are all delighted that you enjoyed your stay in Holly View Annexe - despite the 'changeable' weather!

Remember to call us if you fancy a break from your hectic work schedule - especially for a quiet out of season, R and R session! The winter can be a great time for a few days away, Holly View is lovely and cosy and you may feel you have the Island to yourselves!

All the best from Pam, Kevin, Calum and Rachel!
