What sets Kiltaraglen House apart from other B&Bs is its genuine hospitality and feeling of being a home from home the moment you walk in. Callum & Rachel couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable and the breakfasts were very delicious. Comfy bedroom, well equipped bathroom and quiet, attractive gardens which spilled out into open fields meant we could completely relax. We were able to come and go as we pleased (another plus) and to make use of the very useful maps and booklets of local interest in the lounge. Being on the outskirts of Portree was the perfect base for exploring Skye which we did extensively (despite changeable weather) and the highlight for us was climbing up to the Quiraing with is staggering rock formations. Portree has terrific little shops and excellent seafood restaurants. Highly recommended - hope we can return!

My wife and I stayed at Kiltaraglen House for two nights, the first weekend in August. We'd found the B&B through VisitScotland.com and then read various "TripAdvisor" entries all of which were very positive. We then sent email to Pam and reserved two nights. She indicated that her son Calum and his girlfriend Rachel would be "holding down the fort" this summer but assured us that we'd be take care of in the manner that we'd read about on TripAdvisor. Indeed we were. We'd go back in a heartbeat! The B&B is located about 10 minutes walk from the center of Portree, which makes it just out far enough that the house backs up to an open meadow... and yet the walk back to town is a piece-o-cake. We parked our car on Friday night (after driving over 200 miles from Linlithgow, through Glen Coe, and crossing on the ferry from Mallaig) and didn't get back behind the wheel until Sunday morning! We walked everywhere on Saturday... Explored all of the shops. Had two very delightful evening meal in town. It was great. Check out the Monkey Puzzle Tree... that's one strange plant!

From the wecome we received from Rachel, to the fantastic house and wonderful breakfast we cannot recommend this enough.

The cottage is warm and welcoming and it felt like a home away from home. Rachel and Callum were lovely hosts and they cook the most amazing breakfasts. There was a wealth of maps and infomation in the cottage available for us to use. The room was comfortable and clean and we were welcome to come and go wheneer we liked (something which a number of B&B's we have visited do not allow!!!!!!).

Some may not like the distance from the center of Portree but we loved the walk back of an evening.

We couldnt have asked for anything else and certainly didnt want to leave.

Really comfy and homely place to stay - nice lounge with big TV and books / maps for guests to borrow. Nice clean rooms, lots of fluffy towels and georgeous bathroom. Service was faultless. Good location. 15 Minute walk down a steep hill to town, but great views on the way down. Well worth doing the Scorrybreac circuit walk that starts near the B&B, takes 90 mins with fab coastal views and chances of seeing Eagles.

i stayed in the bed and breakfast part of kiltaraglen house, in the front room, which is spacious and has a beautiful en-suite bathroom. the room was very comfortable and the little things in the room such as the ipod dock/alarm clock were invaluable when it came to helping me sleep at night and also waking me early enough to see all the sights the island itself has to offer. the room itself has a huge bay window which allows for the sun to shine in and give you that wonderful "I'm on holiday" feeling. The lovely husband and wife who run the B&B are friendly and provided me with great information on things to do whilst on the island. The lounge where breakfast is served is spacious and is a wonderful sun trap for eating breakfast, which is wonderfully served by the couple is everything you would want to start a day of hill climbing. all in all it was a wonderful time i had on the island, which was only accentuated by the stay at kiltaraglen house, so thank you for a lovely time and i hope to see you again in future
