Simply the best pier atmoshere available in Portree, nice place and really good food for a fair price!
We had a very good fish and chips and also the dessert was fine.
No reservation, be prepared!

Thankfully we didn't read previous reviews before choosing this restaurant for our Saturday night 'special' meal out, and are glad we formed our own impression. We are in Portree on honeymoon and came in out of the rain to this small, delightful restaurant. The place was full and had a great atmosphere. Service was super quick. I had the Cullen Skink to start which was rich, piping hot and tasted amazing. My husband had smoked salmon to start and this was exemplary - no packet salmon here! We both then had delicious fish meals for main - amazingly fresh and succulent, washed down with a nice bottle of Chilean merlot and followed nicely by a delicious cheese board. We had a wonderful meal and so glad we chose this restaurant, can't rate the food highly enough!

most nights you see people queueing outside waiting for a table. this gives the impression of a good restaurant serving good food. nothing could be further from the truth. despite a characteristic interior and well-worded menu with reasonable prices, there are just too many others in Portree who offer far better food and at just as reasonable prices - if not better. the portions were too small, the vegetables were cold and the salad looked more like christmas decorations than a salad. very poor value for money - the cook / proprietor should be ashamed of himself. this place is a tourist trap and a black stain on scottish gastronomical hospitality. AVOID AT ALL COSTS ! !

The food is ok, not excellent, but in my experience not as bad as other reviewers said. The fish&chips was actually very good. The atmosphere is nice, too bad the selection of beer is very limited. Given price and location, worth a stop.

After many amazing meals we were looking for something simple... Fish and chips. Our B and B host recommended this as the owner is also a fisherman with boats just down the way. We waited outside in the pouring rain to get in, they would not even let us in until 6pm to get out of the rain... That should have been a clue. We ordered the fish and chips and they arrived promptly, but were frankly like cafeteria food. Not great at all. The tartar sauce and the peas were the best part! Chips so greasy and tough that I had to send them back. (I'm usually very very tolerant). We were told "he wasn't happy with the chips, it must be the current batch of potatoes." unlikely, as chips at lunch and at dinner the night before both very local to this place were fine.... Learn to run your fryer I say. Anyways, it looks like there are plenty of options for fish and chips in Portree, give any other place a try. They at least did comp us on one plate of the fish and chips.
