We enjoyed our week at Moyle Cottage. It was comfortable and an easy and relaxing place to stay. Although part of the village it felt private and the view over the harbour was pleasant and ever changing.
I would consider staying here again
Great base for accessing Skye and the mainland. Quiet fishing harbour at the bottom of the garden. Easy access to the sea for kayaking in the sound and around the islands. Had a great holiday, which having a high standard of accommodation made it a real pleasure and a place we will return to. The administration and support from Blues Skye Scotland from whom we rented was equally good. We had a small problem with the hot water, but Sue Beech from Blue Skye Scotland was on to the problem and all was fixed. The only negative to report was the squadrons of West Coast Midges......but as the local electrician who came to sort out the hot waster said....bog myrtle is the best deterrent. As for Skye, what a fantastic place....I did not want to come home!,!
First visit to Skye, moyle cottage is a fantastic location with fabulous views of the harbour and castle. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could possibly want. We will definitely be coming again.
We've stayed at Moyle Cottage for a number of years now. We travel a lot and I'm not the best at writing reviews, however, I felt compelled to after another perfect stay recently.
It really is a hidden gem, located just over the Skye bridge, in a fantastic little village called Kyleakin. Over the years we've come to know and make friends with a lot of the locals, we're always greeted with such a warm welcome whenever we return.
The cottage itself is fantastic and exceptionally well equipped. You really don't need to take much with you - the kitchen has every utensil/pots/pans/dishes etc you could ever need. There's a washing machine and tumble dryer, just what you need after a hard days hill walking, especially when caught in the rain! It may dampen the clothes, but never the spirit :) There are three generous sized bedrooms, each with a stunning outlook to the sea. There are plenty TV channels to choose from the freeview box but to be honest, with such breath taking views to absorb from the living room and kitchen, who wants a TV! The gardens are gorgeous and on a nice sunny day, it's bliss to kick back in the sunshine, watching all the various boats coming and going.
We adore this house and it's the ideal base to explore Skye and the surrounding areas. When we stay here, we always visit Portree where they have a local farmers market. It's also worth visiting Plockton, make sure you go on Calum's boat to see the seals and dolphins too (if you're lucky). The Cuillins are a must and if you catch them just before sunset, you'll see the most incredible scene, quite breath taking. On days where we don't feel like going anywhere or doing much, the cottage is the perfect haven for us. When we stay in the winter months, the wood burning stove in the sitting room adds a real magical touch to the cold, Scottish evenings.
I'm taking mum back for another week this August. She came with us last time and completely fell in love with the place, commenting how entirely relaxing and beautiful she thought it was. That's always how we feel about Moyle too, it's a wonderful place to stay and I can't recommend it highly enough.
