“Best Hotel Of Our Holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

I have only good things to say about this Hotel. It is situated in the village of Kyleakin in the south of Skye, near to the Skye Bridge. We arrived by bus from Armadale and easily walked to the Hotel. Gillian was so friendly and helpful when deciding what to do and where to eat. She would offer to book tables for you and book you onto any activities or boat trips that you wanted to do. The room was excellent. We had a room overlooking the Harbour and Castle Moil- what a view. We never got tired of looking out of the window and seeing the ever changing weather and landscape behind the castle and along Loch Alsh. The hotel also has two lounges both with big windows so you can enjoy the view. The guest handbook in our room was full of ideas for day trips and places to eat, all typed up by Gillian, not just leaflets, with recommendations from past guests. There was also a guest kitchenette where you could get fresh milk, use the fridge, microwave, coffee machine or washing machine. Breakfast was equally as good with a choice of freshly warmed bagels, croissants, toast and a full english. Would love to stay here again if we return to Skye and I would highly recommend to anyone!

I echo all previous reviews- Gillian was lovely and can't really fault the hotel or the location. View from our room was fantastic. My only slight gripe would be that the room was slightly older than it looks in the photos on the website, however in the grand scheme of things that didnt matter too much. Loved the good selection of tea and the little shortbreads in the room :)

A superb B & B. Our host Gillian was so friendly & very helpful regarding where to eat on both the evenings that we were with her. The breakfast she cooked on both mornings was absolutely delicious. Our room was perfectly located overlooking the marina. There was also internet access with a computer on site & plenty of reading material about the island.....lots of maps as well.

Room Tip: I think a room anywhere in this hotel would be ok

Gillian welcomed us into her homely B&B on a sunny July day. She was very interested in how we arrived and was very informative with what was going on in the village that weekend ( Kyleakin Gala weekend) as well as other local information.
The room we were in looked over the harbour which was amazing - so peaceful and tranquil. The room was small but had everything you would possibly need. Lovely bed linen, mugs and the bathroom was spotless. Due to the weather we slept with the window open and there was no, or very little noise the whole might.
Breakfast was plentiful and served on beautiful Denby crockery. Again Gillian informed us of the best boat trips to go on at that time of year.
We both really enjoyed our stay - a great point for exploring Skye. Both on foot around the harbour, village and Skye bridge but otherwise you will need a car to explore the island and beyond.

We had quite the ordeal making it to Skye, as we blew out two tires on the way up. Gillian was so kind and caring when we finally made it there to check in at 9:30 p.m. She even offered to get us something from the kitchen if we were hungry, since most places would be closed at that point, and we wouldn't have any transportation for awhile.

Our room was very nice, comfortable, and clean. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast room was beautiful, and breakfast was superb. Gillian was the perfect hostess.

Our second day there, we were stuck without our rental car (waiting for a tire to be shipped from Inverness), and Gillian did everything she could to try to find us a different car, or find us a tour group to join so that we could go see something that day. While it didn't end up working out, I really appreciated the efforts she made. The husband and I ended up just wandering around the harbor and walking over the bridge. It was very peaceful and relaxing, so we have nothing to complain about. We even go to hang out with Gillian and Craig to chat for a long time- exchanging stories of our hometowns. I felt like I'd made some friends. :)

We also had a lot of laundry to do during our stay, and they were super helpful in helping us get it all done. They went above and beyond. And since we had to leave very early on our last morning, she even packed a "To Go" breakfast for us and left it in the guest fridge for us so we wouldn't have to drive to Glasgow on an empty stomach.

I loved this beautiful place, and I'm really looking forward to seeing them and staying here again!

Room Tip: Room #1 was perfect- it had lots of room, and had windows that overlooked both the harbor and a litt...

Best value of all hotels this trip to the UK. Great place to stay to enjoy Isle of Skye. Also great family place. Owner offers free washer and dryer with detergent! Great breakfast and wonderfully welcoming host. Only downside is small rooms but that's Europe.
