“Lovely stay for a night”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

We decided to stay at the hotel without plans to stay anywhere specific on Skye during a weekend getaway for my wife and I. We pulled into the hotel at about 4pm and were warmly greeted at Reception. As it was a chance to fill a room they offered a superior room at £30 off the going rate if we would take it... happily we agreed.

The room was spacious at the top of the stairs, with a small reception room, large bedroom, and bath and shower room. All with sea views.

The issues with the room were minor. The curtain was hung with plastic hooks that had broken under the curtain weight and a roman blind was broken. Both items reported and we were informed they were aware of it and had replacement parts in the post.

On positive sides the bed was exceptionally comfortable and all amenities one would want where there. The reception room had a small table and a couch/sofa bed but no second TV and bit of an underused area otherwise be we enjoyed the extra space.

Breakfast in the morning had a large cooked menu including french toast and banana honey pancakes. We were very pleased with this neither of us being a fan of the full English or Scottish breakfasts.

We ordered the pancakes with banana and honey which were amazing.

Highly recommended and right in the middle of the town so easy walks to everything.

The Broadford is situated on the coast road overlooking Broadford Bay. It has ample free parking. The reception is warm and genuine. All the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and really contributed to our stay especially our waiter who was great fun and a fount of knowledge.
The room was small but clean , well appointed and we soon got used to the rather hard mattress.
The housekeeping staff left the room immaculate everyday. Breakast is very good, you won't want a lunch after it! The menu in the evening is excellent, really wide and varied choices with lots of locally sourced produce. I loved the haggis fritters with beetroot puree and smoked lamb carpacchio. Wow! The owner/manager couldn't have been kinder despite the awful weather. We will definitely return next year and hope for better weather.

Room Tip: Depends what you want. The romms with a view are small but refurbished. The rooms the rear have no v...

Booked in at the last minute, so got a room at the back with no view. The room was large, as was the bathroom, but lacked attention to detail, ie. curtains falling off rail, glass shelf in bathroom hanging off wall, and the toilet was loose.
The carpets on the ground floor were very stained, but the stairs and corridors looked as though they had just been cleaned. The walls were scuffed and the paintwork peeling in many places.
The meal in the restaurant was uninspiring, a sea-trout steak being served raw in the middle. When this was sent back the chef claimed that this was how it should be cooked! We disagreed, and the fish was returned to the table properly cooked!
This hotel does not warrant 4 stars.

The lovely old hotel has recently undergone refurbishment. We stayed in a twin bed room that also had a lounge/sitting room attached that included 2 comfortable lounge chairs and a television. The bathroom was spacious and included a separate shower and bath. The tariff included breakfast and offered a lovely variety of hot/cold options in a beautiful setting over looking the garden and onto Broadford Bay. We also ate in the restaurant and the bar attached to the hotel. In both places we were delighted with our meals.....in the restaurant I can highly recommend the monk fish & chorizo stew as well as the pork. We had a most enjoyable stay.

I booked this hotel a few months ago and had the full amount deducted from my card, which is not usually the case when originally booking, it is usual to either take a deposit or just the card details. We stayed here for two nights in August. Our room was spacious and clean. We ate in the restaurant and the food was nice but there was not enough staff to deal with the amount of guests so we had quite a long delay between courses. On our second day we wanted to go into the bar for a drink and had to walk outside and round the front of the building, it seemed as though it was not part of the hotel which we found a bit strange. On departure there was a sign which said their credit card facilities were not working but there was a min bank in Broadford where visitors could get money out, which isn't very good service for a hotel of this size and most cash machines only allow a certain amount per day! I was handed a final bill and asked to pay the full amount again! I was extremely shocked and had to bring out a copy of my bank statement which showed they had already deducted over £200 two months previously! It was a good job I took that statement with me! Luckily I only had around £40 to pay as I had to pay this in cash! I think this is a nice hotel with staff who work extremely hard but there just isn't enough of them to provide a good service to their customers.

Didn't stay but called in for Sunday lunch while staying in the area. First up staff were fabulous, friendly and engaging and welcomed us. Only choice was 3 course Sunday carvery for £15. Traditional choice of 3 starters we opted for mushroom soup, very tasty if lacking in seasoning. Worst part of the meal was the carvery. Choice of two meats both overcooked and dry, three types of potato with strange tasting soggy roast pots and a pan with mixed veg which were truly atrocious, cabbage mange tout baby sweetcorn carrots all watery with no flavour or seasoning and the worst gravy ever just tasted like brown water, so bad I only ate some of the meat and mash. Buffet desserts looked like my granddaughter had made them and just tasted of whipped cream. Overall Massively lacking in seasoning, flavour and depth, hugely disappointed.

Stayed here in a party of 2 couples for a 2 night mid-week break.
Although the hotel was full, the service was fantastic and staff very friendly.
Room was spacious, clean and well appointed, as was the rest of the hotel. The weather was a bit 'grey', but the heating was on making everything really cosy and welcoming.
Food was out of this world - met the head chef Gail who couldn't do enough to make our stay brilliant.
Will definitely be calling back here for another break, as will our friends.
Overall a great hotel with lovely views over Broadford Bay.
