“good lunch spot, convenient location, and snakes too!”
Review of The Watermill - CLOSED

From the main road in Broadford, the Watermill coffee shop is easily spotted with its trademark watermill, a good parking lot, and a special attraction adjacent to it (be sure to take time to visit the Serpentarium--if you don't love reptiles already, you will after that!).
The cafe itself is small but pleasant inside, with just a few tables, a tempting bakery counter, and lots of souvenir-type items for purchase. The staff were very friendly.
We had soup, homemade bread, and drinks, and thought it was a very satisfying lunch. The soup was hearty and very well-flavored, and the bread was great. We did not sample their other bakery goods, but the fellows at the next table were raving about the paradise cake, which did look luscious. They have a good selection of sandwiches, sweets, and even ice cream or Isle of Skye Brewery beer.
This would be a good place to get take-away food for a picnic.

We had coffee, cake and ice cream at the Watermill after our visit to the serpentarium. Really enjoyable.

Lovely setting beside the Watermill (of course!) Very pleasant staff- who greeted you on arrival with a smile and a hello - as well as eye to eye contact. The coffees and the food served very tasty indeed.

Home baking was very tired looking and I would question if it was home made. Rocky road contained nuts and this was not highlighted not a problem foe us but could have been. No soya milk available, only decaf on offer was instant and milk was UHT in small plastic pots.

A rainy cold day and a very welcome and tasty bowl of home made tomato and pepper soup, but let down by coffee, sandwich and service. Coffee/tea would be much better served with real milk, rather than small UHT cartons, and sandwich while ok was not much better than supermarket grade. Service was cheerful but a bit rough and ready, with the customer expected to take an active role - obviously no idea of the higher standards elsewhere on the island. Get rid of the second rate stuff and concentrate on doing a couple of things really well, such as soup and cakes.
