We enjoyed two tranquil nights at this lovely B&B situated close to the Mallaig-Armadale ferry. The affectionate owners made us feel at home immediately. The newly refurbished rooms are spotlessly clean and the breakfast is excellent. The B&B is also ideally situated for foot passengers, with the ferry terminal and a good pub nearby.

My boyfriend and I recently enjoyed a road trip to Scotland and we were delighted to come across Hazelwood. The location was perfect, the room in excellent condition and clean, the food was plentiful and tasty, and the couple who own the B & B were attentive, helpful and genuine. We had an absolutely excellent stay here and could not fault a single thing about it. Elaine and Malcolm were able to give us some tips as to things to see and do in the local area, which we acted upon and were rewarded by. A wonderful stay and two wonderful people - we would certainly go back!!

We had a wonderful stay here in July, as our daughter was attending a summer school at the local college, and we contacted Elaine and Malcolm just a few days before we arrived. We were dismayed that our on line booking of another ( less attractive, as we later saw and thought )guesthouse, had not been "actioned" or "confirmed" by that owner, and was to be occupied by another party! However, that turned out really well for us, as Elaine and Malcolm's beautiful home and excellent hospitality could not be bettered.
We were in a lovely double en suite, with a gorgeous view of their charming garden, leading to the shore with the hills in the distance - spectacular. The whole house, and they showed us all their rooms, is immaculately clean and fresh, with tasteful decor. We were made so welcome and were very comfortable there, and Elaine and Malcolm went above and beyond the call of b and b owners by kindly offering to make accommodation and transport arrangements for our daughter, whose accommodation booking at the college also had not been actioned. In the end, the college sorted this out, but unfortunately we did hear that this double booking practice does happen on Skye.
Malcolm gave us the benefit of his knowledge of Skye, and of some good places to go to see wildlife, birds, etc., and we enjoyed the routes he recommended.
After a great night's sleep in such a peaceful location, we enjoyed an excellent breakfast of smoked salmon and creamy scrambled eggs, delicious, and there was so much choice of juices, fruits, cereals, yogurts, preserves and toast, we were well set up for the day. Great shower in the modern en suite too.
We would certainly make a point of returning here and were sorry we had so little time to spend on this occasion.
We have stayed in many Scottish and English b and bs, and I cannot recommend Hazelwood too highly.

We ended up at Hazelwood after calling all the B&Bs in Skye we could find a telephone number for online. At one of the last ones, my wife asked if they knew of anyone with a room, and they gave us Elaine's number. Thank god for that.

The hospitality of the people in the Highlands is always talked about, and is probably a stereotype, but Elaine is such a lovely woman that she makes it easy to believe this particular stereotype could well be true.

The house is modern, must have been renovated recently, the room we had was very big, with stunning views of the sea between mainland Scotland and Skye through a big window, and has an en suite bathroom with a strong shower that is a must have if you enjoy walking around the island as we do.

She offers a choice of full scottish breakfast with or without black pudding (I don't generally care for black pudding, but it was crunchy and I enjoyed it throughly), or smoked salmon with scrambled eggs. On top of it, there's a choice of fruit and cereals, toast with home made jams, and tea or coffee.

We couldn't have hoped for anything better and I will definitely go back if we visit Skye again.
