“Fantastic relaxed stay”
Reviewed July 25, 2010

We spent 3 nights here at this delightful guest house. Situated up the hill from the center of Tobermory.
A well kept house with a beautiful room and well appointed bathroom with a fantastic power shower and lovely bath and hand products.
The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the room had nice individual touches with the usual things you would expect, a nice touch was the little coffee machine (fresh milk was outside in the fridge in the hall)
A special mention has to be made about the breakfast as in our opinion it was up there with 5 star hotels. A pre-order form allowed you to choose the night before what you wanted. There was also a little slate board outside with a different morning 'special'
The breakfasts were exceptionally well cooked and presented over the 3 days.
I would recommend the fruity porridge to kick start your day.
Adrian and Jane are always around if you need something and with only 4 rooms you will feel that you are getting almost one to one service.
There is a nice selection of books available to read in the hall.
This was by far our best stay during our short island and highland adventure.

Strongarbh House is an excellent B+B in a great position, just a short walk up the hill from the village. The hosts, Adrian & Jane, are a delightful young couple who have a very artistic flair which shows in the way the house is presented.

The bedroom (#3) that we occupied was large, beautifully furnished, very peaceful & comfortable. There's no TV in the house, but guests are invited to use a comfortable library with a huge range of interesting books.

The breakfast was first class. All in all, a very pleasant B+B experience.

We booked this place after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and visiting their Website. It was actually a little difficult to get the full feel for the rooms, hence, I include a few photos here… We were not disappointed…

We arrived late having missed the ferry and hence got there around 11:45pm. Adrian was on hand to welcome us and take us to the room, which had been prepared with the lights tastefully dimmed on to give a lovely feel of relaxation the moment we walked in.

We thought the room (number 1) was great. Large bay window overlooking Tobermory harbour, big modern 4 poster bed (very comfy), great chairs, iPod dock etc. The WIFI was easy to connect to and had a good signal, plus there was a “library” downstairs where we could relax and make use of the maps and guidebooks. There were also board games etc if you wanted, and I thought the room was a great place for a last drink before retiring upstairs to bed, and also spend the afternoon if the weather is not suitable for venturing outside.

Breakfast was substantial and tasty, and we particularly liked the fact that there was a different daily special to also choose from. I keep in fact meaning to e-mail Adrian and Jane to get the recipe for the Baked Eggs with Local Salmon…

The B&B is only a five minute walk into the centre of Tobermory. We found it a charming village and our only disappointment was not being able to try out the nearby Fish Restaurant called Cafe Fish. If you are planning on trying it out, make sure you book.

Our final experience was very much another highlight. We were likely to be a little rushed to check out and asked if there was any chance of a late check out. We were informed that as the room was not occupied that evening, there was no need to rush and take our time. Perfect…

We had the large bedroom with a modern 4 poster bed & views of the garden & beyond to the sea. This view together with a huge & elegant room (& rest of the house) made this one of the top 3 B&B’s we have ever stayed in. We couldn’t find a single thing wrong with this exceptional B&B. Breakfast was equally exceptional – several choices of differnt cooked breakfast each day with a daily changing special, as well as choices of cereals, fresh fruit, juice, homemade bread & jams. It is located a few minutes uphill walk outside of the harbour area which affords it the wonderful views but it would be worth driving down to the harbour car park if walking is an issue for you, just to stay here.

We had a wonderful stay at Strongarbh. We stayed for five nights but would have liked to stay longer. Jane and Adrian were ideal hosts. The bedroom and bathroom was fabulous. What a delight to have an ipod doc so that we could listen to our music. Everything had been thought of. Breakfast was delicious each day and we finished the day with a whiskey - usually outside as the weather was great - the library was very cosy too if the weather turned poor - however that did not happen when we were in Tobermory. Jane and Adrian had a lists of restaurants locally - we went to several and had great meals in all of them. Strongarbh House was like a home from home - thank you to Jane and Adrian for making it so.

In general, I would very much agree with what has previously been said about this B&B. Well worth the visit, I don't think you will be disappointed. Yes, the porridge is really good, too,

I'm actually not going to write too much about Strongarbh House as other people have done a great job in detailing exactly why it is a wonderful, special place to stay at, if visiting Mull.

I would second all of the compliments re hospitality of Adrian and Jane, the delicious breakfasts and the stylish, 'boutique hotel' decor.
Basically, stay here! You won't regret it.
