“Great style, comfy rooms and delicious breakfast - Perfect”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2010

We booked this place after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and visiting their Website. It was actually a little difficult to get the full feel for the rooms, hence, I include a few photos here… We were not disappointed…

We arrived late having missed the ferry and hence got there around 11:45pm. Adrian was on hand to welcome us and take us to the room, which had been prepared with the lights tastefully dimmed on to give a lovely feel of relaxation the moment we walked in.

We thought the room (number 1) was great. Large bay window overlooking Tobermory harbour, big modern 4 poster bed (very comfy), great chairs, iPod dock etc. The WIFI was easy to connect to and had a good signal, plus there was a “library” downstairs where we could relax and make use of the maps and guidebooks. There were also board games etc if you wanted, and I thought the room was a great place for a last drink before retiring upstairs to bed, and also spend the afternoon if the weather is not suitable for venturing outside.

Breakfast was substantial and tasty, and we particularly liked the fact that there was a different daily special to also choose from. I keep in fact meaning to e-mail Adrian and Jane to get the recipe for the Baked Eggs with Local Salmon…

The B&B is only a five minute walk into the centre of Tobermory. We found it a charming village and our only disappointment was not being able to try out the nearby Fish Restaurant called Cafe Fish. If you are planning on trying it out, make sure you book.

Our final experience was very much another highlight. We were likely to be a little rushed to check out and asked if there was any chance of a late check out. We were informed that as the room was not occupied that evening, there was no need to rush and take our time. Perfect…

We had the large bedroom with a modern 4 poster bed & views of the garden & beyond to the sea. This view together with a huge & elegant room (& rest of the house) made this one of the top 3 B&B’s we have ever stayed in. We couldn’t find a single thing wrong with this exceptional B&B. Breakfast was equally exceptional – several choices of differnt cooked breakfast each day with a daily changing special, as well as choices of cereals, fresh fruit, juice, homemade bread & jams. It is located a few minutes uphill walk outside of the harbour area which affords it the wonderful views but it would be worth driving down to the harbour car park if walking is an issue for you, just to stay here.

We had a wonderful stay at Strongarbh. We stayed for five nights but would have liked to stay longer. Jane and Adrian were ideal hosts. The bedroom and bathroom was fabulous. What a delight to have an ipod doc so that we could listen to our music. Everything had been thought of. Breakfast was delicious each day and we finished the day with a whiskey - usually outside as the weather was great - the library was very cosy too if the weather turned poor - however that did not happen when we were in Tobermory. Jane and Adrian had a lists of restaurants locally - we went to several and had great meals in all of them. Strongarbh House was like a home from home - thank you to Jane and Adrian for making it so.

In general, I would very much agree with what has previously been said about this B&B. Well worth the visit, I don't think you will be disappointed. Yes, the porridge is really good, too,

I'm actually not going to write too much about Strongarbh House as other people have done a great job in detailing exactly why it is a wonderful, special place to stay at, if visiting Mull.

I would second all of the compliments re hospitality of Adrian and Jane, the delicious breakfasts and the stylish, 'boutique hotel' decor.
Basically, stay here! You won't regret it.

Strongarbh House is a beautiful Victorian home sitting about Tobermory with sweeping views of the harbour (request a sea view room) about a 5-10 minute walk from the heart of Tobermory.

The rooms are tastefully decorated and huge with no TV - which didn't matter as we were out and about most of the time anyway. The view from our room was mesmerising anyway and you could get lost in dreams staring out to sea.

Breakfast was fantastic - I have never tasted such luxurious porridge and would recommend everyone have a taste.

Pete and I stayed at Strongarbh House for three nights over Hogmanay. We loved every minute of our stay - from the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed into a grand Victorian villa, full of christmas atmosphere. Shown to our room on the first floor, we were immediatley struck with an amazing wow factor - the fantastic view of Tobermory bay from our bay window. The room was huge - high ceilings, huge bed with cosy linen and really lovely details, like a Christmas cracker which had been left for us and a tray full of tea / coffe / choc drinks and locally made biscuits. The decor is modern and the artistic flair of our hosts really shone through - from the unusual lamp in the corner to the art on the walls. Our en suite was great too, always warm and plenty of hot water on tap. We liked the fact that our hosts run their business with their carbon footprint in mind and really appreciated the efforts they had gone to. The breakfasts were superb - better than any of the hotels in Tobermory. On 1st Jan, we had a brunch with a specially written menu for "2010" - we had pan frid argyle scallops with stornoway black pudding and caramelized apples (simply to die for!!), followed by a choice of a second course - we had a home made toasted muffin with smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. What an amazing start to 2010 in a lovely breakfast room overlooking the bay.

We've stayed in most of the accommodation in Tobermory and found this to be a jewel amongst them. There is no TV in the room, but you don't need one with such an amazing view to look at out of the window, such peace and tranquility all around. Staying at Strongarbh is not just a bed and breakfast, it is an experience - if you are looking for peace and reflection, in stylish and period surroundings with great breakfasts to set you up for the day, then look no further. You won't be dissapointed.
