Stayed here for three nights in September and we were not disappointed. The weather was a bit dull on arrival but sunshine the next day transformed the castle which looks stunning from the driveway on approach. Our room was very comfortable and the owner and staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a feast with plenty of choice and fantastic views from the dining room. Guests have free use of the seating area in the hall and the library. Both are comfortable with log fires if need be.

The sun shone for us and the car never turned a wheel on the first day. There is plenty to do around the estate and the scenery is simply stunning. We spent an enjoyable couple of hours with Steph on a guided nature walk to Loch Mingary and this was followed by a meal at the coffee shop near the castle. During our stay plenty time was spent relaxing in the library and sampling the complementary whisky. The following day saw a spot of sunbathing at Calgary Bay which is nearby and well worth a visit as is Tobermory.

To sum up this is simply an amazing B&B to stay in, we both loved Glengorm and all it has to offer. It was a privilege to stay here and enjoy this very special place for a few days. But remember this is a B&B not a hotel so if you go expecting the latter you may well leave disappointed which would be a shame. Glengorm Castle, thanks to the approach of the Nelson family has got the balance spot on with a very laid back and relaxed atmosphere. The rest is up to you!

We tore ourselves away but have vowed to return.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent.

First time in a castle what a wonderful experience. Massive rooms and beautifully decorated. The best views you will ever have across the fields all the way to the sea. Lovely walks and peaceful surroundings.
WIFI downstairs only but not a problem if you can enjoy it with your complementary whiskey in front of a fireplace.
Great breakfast.
Definitely the place to stay.

Room Tip: Front rooms have the best views

We rented the self catering Lodge Cottage on the Glengorm Estate as part of a group of 12 friends for an anniversary.
The cottage was very well presented and equipped, with two good sized bedrooms, a bathroom with bath and shower, a fair sized kitchen and cosy sitting room with woodburner. We were very grateful for the latter as we had rain most days, so it was nice to come 'home' and light the fire.
The estate is huge and has glorious views. We walked most days and saw otters, eagles, seals, curlew etc. Lots of picturesque highland cattle too.
The coffee shop was always a welcome stop for mid morning coffee or a hot soup lunch. They will do takeaways too if you want to order a meal to take back to eat in your cottage in the evening.
Despite the weather the views were stunning and the pace of life slow. It's a 5 mile drive to Tobermory along a single track road but hardly necessary except to explore more of the island.
We hope to be back in the not too distant future.

We visited Tobermory briefly last year and my grandson was so impressed that he asked if he could come back and sleep there. So we booked a few days in Sorne Cottage on the Glengorm Estate. I know the area well and there have been many improvements over the last few years. The cottage exceeded all expectations - fully equipped and comfortably furnished. It had everything you need for a family holiday and made an excellent base from which to explore the estate and re-visit old haunts. One thing, however, hasn't changed - the almost overwhelming sense of peace and tranquillity. It's a real haven and highly recommended!

This was the 2nd year running that we stayed at a cottage called Lephin at Glengorm Castle.estate, set in 5000 acres. The cottage was isolated with access gained via field of sheep, accessible via car or on foot. Our neighbours were sheep, Highland cattle, horses, deer, eagles. You could not put a price on the deep relaxation gained by staying here and the many walks to the Castle grounds, to woods, flat rock (where we saw dolphins cavorting and snorting), the walled garden, the sea with amazing views and bird life, seals. The most comfortable bed, exquisite cottage and grounds. Close to the castle tearoom for home-produced meals and groceries. Easy access to Tobermory with all its attractions. Would we go again - you bet!

We decided to start our Scottish island tour in style in the extraordinary Glengorm Castle. We were blown away by the beauty of the location - you turn a corner on a wild and isolated corner of the Island and suddenly you see the castle facing out towards the Western isles and the setting sun. It's a fairytale building complete with turrets and towers, a grand (but very comfortable) hall and the most glorious dining room you'll ever see - with views that will silence you mid sentence. We are a large family of 6, including 4 rambunctious boys, yet we were made to feel totally at home within minutes of arriving. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable - you haven't lived until you've had a bath in a Scottish Castle like this! The breakfast was a triumphant selection of kippers, perfectly cooked eggs, black pudding and the rest all served by charming staff. I really can't recommend this place enough and I haven't even mentioned the beautiful walks and gardens. Even the weather was fantastic when we were there and the charming owner, Tom Nelson, very kindly showed our boys the best places to dive off the rocks. We'll be back!
