“Tobermory treasure trove”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

This is a charming small hotel, originally two adjoining houses right on the harbour front - fabulous views. The rooms are modest in size, but recently decorated and impeccably clean; and the staff are all friendly and efficient. No bar, but a full drinks service is always available right into late evening. Also, out of seven hotels on a twelve-day tour, this was the only one that provided bathrobes as well as all the usual other amenities.

However, the real bonus here is a tremendously talented young chef, who uses fresh local ingredients (always a good start) to produce some really imaginative, varied and original dishes, all beautifully cooked and presented, which were absolutely the culinary highlight of our tour. Between the nine of us we tried about everything on the menu, and everybody was mightily impressed; none of the other hotels even came within shouting distance, let alone close. Definitely worth a repeat visit; and the breakfasts (although simpler, obviously) were equally well done. If Tobermory weren't so relatively remote, I bet the food critics would be shouting about it.

Room Tip: No lift, but there's one room on the ground floor for those with mobility issues. Staff very wi...

We stayed two nights at this comfortable and welcoming hotel. As this hotel is converted from several fishermans houses there are many stairways, some of them quite steep, so if you have mobility problems be aware. I think that they only have one ground floor room.
The room that we had was on the top floor with coombed ceilings and was a good size. The shower over the bath was a bit of a challenge though, Im 5'5'' and only just managed to get in and out without hitting my head on the ceiling. If you are tall i'd suggest asking for a first floor room. Breakfast was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. the staff were excellent, very pleasent, chatty and welcoming. All in all thie hotel is good value.

The tobermory hotel is situated on the beautiful harbour side. There can not be a better view to wake up to. Andi and her staff make you very welcome. the hotel is quaint and has nice comfortable lounges and a nice dining room. The breakfasts have a extensive choice. The full scottish takes some beating especially the stornaway blackpudding. The rooms are comfortable and clean. We have stayed here several times and will defiantly return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view.

This small hotel is located in a row of converted fisherman's cottages, right on the water front. This means most of the bedrooms are very small, but we do not mind that so long as the beds are comfortable, and they were! We had breakfasts and a dinner at the hotel and the food wes consistently excellent. We will visit this place again!

English refugees Ian and Andi Stevens know exactly how to run a traditional harbourside hotel. All that needs to be done is do the simple things well. Andi, in particular, really understands the importance of good service. When you combine this with excellent food and an unparalleled location, then a really good stay is ensured. We were not disappointed in any of these aspects. We've stayed in bigger rooms true, but not in converted fisherman's cottages. The quart from a pint pot trick was almost completely pulled off.

Stayed for three nights in May. This was a great hotel, and our room (14) was clean, very comfortable and bright and had beautiful views across the bay. Ian and Andy, and not forgetting Ashka, were all really friendly and helpful, making our stay exceptional. On our last night we ate in the restaurant, and the food was quite amazing. The breakfast was also really good and set us up for the day. It was a real shame when we had to leave. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Our room (14) was at the front and had stunning views. It was on the main road but when we had the...

Stayed for 6 nights in May & enjoyed every minute on Mull! The hotel is comfortable, clean & welcoming with free wifi! Breakfasts were excellent - try the porridge & smoked haddock! The evening meal in the restaurant(you need to book) was fantastic, imaginative & delicious with all food locally sourced - the written menu doesn't hint at the quality. Service was excellent - efficient & friendly. Our room overlooked the harbor and although small was comfortable & clean. Will recommend this hotel!
