After a 3 night stay at this stunning hotel, Myself and my husband were blown away by the wonderfully welcoming staff and incredible food.

You are made to feel part of the family from the moment you arrive, and nothing is too much trouble.

The hotel is set amongst beautiful scenery, with incredible views. The location is one of calm and relaxation, and this is certainly reflected inside the hotel.

The rooms are well appointed and spotlessly clean with views of the stunning scenery.

For a taste of relaxed, beautiful and welcoming Scotland, you need to stay here!

We booked a double room with an inland view. We got a spacious room with a super king bed that had a spectacular views over the harbour. Drinks were reasonably priced (less than £40 for a bottle of very drinkable champagne). Breakfast was excellent. Added benefit of 2 very lovely, docile dogs.

Hotel in a beautiful location with stunning views. Owners should be ashamed of their lack of management and leadership in what is potentially a fantastic hotel.

Can only reiterate the previous comments on the front desk staff. Assume she is a relative to still be employed. Unwelcoming to the point of rudeness and lacking the ability to smile or communicate with guests.

Evening dining disappointing- limited menu with several items unavailable across both evenings. Bar staff advised did not have enough confidence to make a liquor coffee.

Room spacious but tatty, shower scalding hot or cold. In need of revamp, although understand in progress.

Positive was the spectacular view from dining room.
Dining staff were new and on gap year employment but were friendly and did their best considering they seem to have been left to go it alone.

Overpriced and would not recommend or re-visit

The Western Isles Hotel COULD be fantastic. But it needs a heck of a lot of money spending before it will even reach "OK", and the room rates are high for the poor condition it's in.

The hotel's in a wonderful location with stunning views but the whole place is shabby and worn and smells of fried food, which also permeated our room. On our return home we found that our clothes and even our waterproof jackets had picked up the smell of frying and had to be washed to remove it.

The curtains in our room had frayed edges and the furniture upholstery was overdue for replacement.

Breakfast was poor quality: the bacon had either been microwaved or kept warm, there was no muesli or granola available, the jam and marmalade was from catering packs, the smoke haddock was too salty. Basically no attempt to provide a quality product.

Several lights in the bathroom didn't work, one was repaired with sellotape after we reported it but we were told that the other two had been disconnected because they were too old.

According to the info in the room the owners are intending a major refurbishment and have started with making it watertight and have installed decent wifi (which is excellent) but I suspect they have grossly underestimated how much it will cost to do the whole place properly.

The miserable woman who checked us out I believe is one of the owners. So it was surprising not to be asked if everything had been OK, or at least greeted with a smile. Other staff were helpful and pleasant although obviously battling against the odds in this hotel.

Room tip: Stay somewhere else unless you enjoy throwing money away.

Lovely old building and large luxurious bedrooms with character. Our room in the turret has a lovely sitting area and wonderful views. Food a disappointment at dinner and breakfast. Items read well but cooking failed to deliver. Risotto did not appear to have used arborio rice and at breakfast avocado was over ripe and tasteless.
