Arrived when the wind was blowing a gale and the rain was horizonal..... opened the door of the foyer and was met by a roaring fire. Also couldn't believe how warm and cosy my room was when I arrived. Such a warm welcome on a horrible horrible day. Loved this hotel, nice ambiance and interesting nooks and crannies. The owners have done a good job with the renovations. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Looking forward to going back again some day but will try to go when the weather is more favourable.

Dear Scotlandcinders

Thank you for your great review. I'm sorry that the weather was uncharacteristically inclement for April, but at least you were able to curl up in front of the fire. Fortunately it was a short spell of much needed rain, and the suns now shining again.

Keep an eye on that weather forecast and hope to see you back soon!

Very best wishes
Richard

Arrived tired after cycling from the ferry the long way round and the hills from Dervaig are as steep as warned. Smooth check-in then onto the room which for a twin was sufficient for our needs. Booked to eat in the conservatory, windy and raining outside but was made to feel more than welcome. Had confirmed earlier than the restaurant could provide vegan cuisine and sure enough it arrived and was delicious!
Relaxed in the lounge after the evening meal in front of a roaring log fire and a local whiskey to hand.
Breakfast again was served quickly and efficiently, more than enough to keep us going on the windy return cycle to the ferry.
Staff at reception and especially those in the restaurant could not do enough to cater for us, so full marks to the staff at this hotel.

Dear Peter G

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to leave such a great review. I'm glad the cycling advice was spot on......the circuit round the North of the island is beginning to build something of a reputation! There are plenty more routes to tackle so do come back and visit us again soon

Very best wishes
Richard

Had a lovely time at this hotel. The staff were very warm, friendly and attentive. The room was amazing - what a great view over the sea. We stayed in Glenforclas and was rather spacious. A grand feel to the hotel and will be back. Breakfast and dinner were very tasty and not overly priced. Welcomes children well.

Dear Dizzylizzyp

Thank you so much for your wonderful review, particularly that we're child friendly. As you know, the family entertainment that we offer runs to board games, a fantastic Brio train set and lots of books....so its definitely traditional. And that's perfect for many folk!

Hope to welcome you back soon
Very best wishes

Stayed at the Western Isles Hotel for 3 nights with my wife and granddaughter whilst attending a wedding at the Castle. What a lovely hotel with fantastic views of the bay. Stayed in the Glenlivet room and was completely satisfied with character, room and views. The food was good with the breakfast layout wonderful. The bar area is good and the evening meals lovely. All the staff were friendly and very professional and helpful, with the daytime receptionist (sorry i forgot her name) who couldn't do enough for you (although one evening another lady on reception, was more concerned about making her private telephone conversation than doing her job to assist with guests). Overall though this is a lovely place to stay, and the owners are perfect hosts. Will definitely return.

Room Tip: There is no lift so if there is difficulty with climbing stairs, choose a lower floor room.

If you want modern and slick, then this is not it! But what you get is friendly staff, clean rooms, hot breakfast, a lovely view of the harbour, parking and only five minutes walk from the harbour and places to eat.

The hotel seems to be updating room by room, but has still chosen to keep lots of old hotel features which makes it enjoyable. Don't park on the end as you could be dragged out of breakfast to move your car when the bus comes!

There arevlots of b and b s, but this seems to be only hotel. Not many people seemed to be dining in the evening, but there is plenty of choice.

I recommend cafe fish.....fabulous...get there early or book.

Room Tip: There's no lift...three floors!
