“Highlight of my holiday - fantastic day out”
Reviewed September 6, 2011

I enjoyed every minute of my trip with Sea Life Surveys in September 2011. I went on the 4 hour trip which was the perfect length of time to feel like it was a proper day out, have lunch at sea and to see plenty of the wildlife. The head guide Ruth was extremely knowledgeable about what we were seeing and also gave a good overview of the geography and history of the local area. The skipper and other guides were also very friendly, passionate, and enthusiastic, able to answer any questions they were asked. I would definitely recommend Sea Life Surveys to anybody visiting Tobermory.

“Not this time!”
Reviewed August 29, 2011

we went out with Sea Life surveys for the short 2 hour Ecocruise. Last year we did the same and saw sea eagles feeding and basking sharks. This year we didn't see these but we did see seals and various sea birds. The guides were very informative on both trips, taking time to answer questions that they must have answered countless times before. We took our teenage boys and our six year old daughter. They all enjoyed themselves.

“Amazing Day Out!”
Reviewed August 24, 2011

We had amazingly close sightings of a minke whale circling the boat checking us out! We could even see the white of the whales fins under the water as it was so close! The crew are brilliant and you can tell they really are enthusiastic about what they do. The crew and skipper all had good knowledge of the local area and were able to answer all our questions without hesitation. Free tea and coffee throughout the trip was also much appreciated! In addition to the minke whale we also seen porpoise, close up views of two sea eagles, common seals and grey seals aswell as a golden eagle in the distance not to mention the many seabirds! Will definetly be back!

“Fantastic day out watching Scotland's wonderful wildlife”
Reviewed August 23, 2011

I went on the seven hour whale watch in August 2011. The crew are extremely knowledgeable, friendly and inclusive and their ability to spot wildlife at considerable distances is truly impressive. We saw minke whales, a basking shark, grey and common seals, harbour porpoises, skuas, shearwaters, fulmars, gannets and lots more. The brief stop for lunch on the island of Muck was fab too. Great stuff - go!

“Fantastic trip well worth going on”
Reviewed August 20, 2011

We went out on the seven hour whalewatch explorer on Thursday 18th August. We saw Seals, porpoise,Minke whales and basking shark. Loads of different birds, shag, different types of gulls and a puffin! which I did not expect to see. The crew were all brilliant, their knowledge of the wildlife really helped to make the trip even more enjoyable. Ewan was very excited at the prospect of seeing an eagle and also when people saw a seal which was right next to the basking shark! The captain made sure we had plenty of chances to see the whales and the shark by changing direction. The crew joined in with everyones excitement about their different sightings and gave valuable information about each of the sightings including their ability to identify different whales by name. Loads of photo opportunities, everyone had good views. Tea and coffee available during trip, binoculars supplied and information books freely at hand, so if you forget to bring something you still won't miss out. Stopped at the isle of muck for lunch, they open the tea shop especially for you as the team phone ahead to say they will be calling in, can recommend the chocolate cake. Also had a crab sandwich but make sure you ask for a closed one if thats what you want.Make sure you take a packed lunch with you as it is a long trip and all that spotting gives you an appetite. The scenery alone is worth the trip, we had a lovely day but you still need to layer as you are open to the elements, so take suncream too. During the trip you need to make sure that you are looking out constantly as there is so much to see and you could be the one to spot the whale and win the mars bar (choose a fresh one! if you go on the trip you will see why.) Well worth the money and we will be going out again with them when we next get up that way, hopefully next year.
