We recently visited the Tobermory Distillery and found the tour to be interesting and informative. Having never been much of a fan of malt whisky I was a little skeptical but rather enjoyed the tasting of the Tobermory and the Ledaig very enjoyable, to the point I've actually changed my opinion on malt!

We had a thirteen year old with us, who didn't find it particularly exciting but what I would say was that during the tasting she wasn't left out and was given a juice whilst we were sampling the whisky, which we thought was a nice little touch! Oh, she also found the 'Shhh, whisky sleeping' signs rather amusing too!!

One negative comment I'd make - sort the 'short film' out. As someone who works in the communications industry, this was appalling. Whilst there was some really beautiful footage of the Isle of Mull, it was cut really badly, the soundtrack and voiceover predictable, the couple cliched and incredibly tacky, and it told little of the business, the processes or the products. It's little wonder many tourists develop jaded opinions of us Scots viewing pieces such as this!

Professional opinion aside, this is supposed to be a marketing/promotional piece that appeals to your mass market but it's dreadful. Burn Stewart - sort it out!

Booked a tour via email but tours can be booked in the shop attached to the distillery. Husband and i really enjoyed the tour which was very informative and interesting. Definitely a must for those who visit the island. The drams of whiskey at the end finish off the tour nicely. Lots of steps here so could imagine it would be quite difficult for those with limited mobility but the tour starts and finishes in the shop area which is all level.

We've done this tour a couple of times and I never get bored! Great value for money and fascinating how whiskey is made.

OH and you get to drink!

It seems to be the norm that staff at distillery tasting rooms throughout the UK are not the overwhelmingly welcoming and inviting type you might hope to find as a novice whiskey drinker trying to learn more about such a delicious spirit. However, the staff here did a decent job of conversing with us and letting us taste their offerings. We left with a couple small bottles and were impressed with the quality of their 10yr.
