“disappointing hotel”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

The hotel is in a nice woodland setting convenient for touring the island. Our room had an excellent view but was extremely cold on arrival and took 24 hours to get warm with the small electric heater. The corridors were unheated. The bathroom facilities were functional but very dated and the lighting was poor. We were able to hear absolutely everything happening in the adjoining room. The food was reasonable but over-priced.

We are sorry that you found your room cold and we would have been happy to put additional heating in your room if it had been mentioned to our staff. We only use the very best local produce in our restaurant and as we are aware of what other restaurants on Mull charge we are confident that our prices are extremely competitive and represent excellent value for money.

Great hotel. Unique style rooms with a Norwegian feel. Great experience and very comfy and cosy.
Lovely atmosphere in the bar with great views. Food is fresh and I especially love the home made chips.
Staff are friendly and always helpful

By happy chance after leaving the hotel we had originally booked which was terrible, we came across this lovely log cabin hotel, we were greeted with a smile and welcome to match. It was close to the beach with stunning views it even had its own airfield for helicopters. The rooms were comfortable compact with views from the window into the woods and the sea. The restaurant was great with a good varied menu and a excellent wine list . Mine host Allison and Brendan were helpful and they had a loveable Labrador called Stella. We enjoyed our stay very much.

I visited Glenforsa with friends for dinner. The food was fresh and well presented. For starters we had the chicken liver pate, smoked mackerel pate and the scallops which we shared and all were superb, for main course I had the salmon with pea & rocket risotto which was beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked! My friends had the steak (which was massive) and the stuffed chicken, both of which looked really tasty and my friends were more than happy. For dessert we had a chocolate torte with honeycomb and the lemon posset, these were both homemade and really scrummy. I will be going to Glenforsa again the next time friends visit.
PS views from the dining room & bar are stunning.

In a scenic situation overlooking the beautiful and ever-changing landscape of the Sound of Mull, the Glenforsa Hotel is ideally placed for a wonderful holiday on this magic island. Mine hosts Brendan and Allison Walsh cannot do enought to ensure a totally happy stay - and our group of 22 birdwatchers were delighted with the location, the amenities and the superb food on offer. Rooms are comfortable and spacious with the warmth of of this timber building enveloping all its guests in an atmosphere of calm and relaxation. The range of dishes served in both the main restaurant and bar is reason enough to want to to stay here. The yound chef and his team use locally sourced fish, game, poultry, lamb, beef and succulent pork dishes (as well as an innovative range of vegetarian dishes) to produce a menu of mouthwatering quality. Our stay was for three nights and we would have been happy to stay of much longer. The island has so much to offer those seeking brilliant landscapes to walk i and to watch wildlife. We are determined to return as soon as we can.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the hotel are those with views of the Sound of Mull. Other rooms look on to the...

A quirk of fate perhaps, day trip to Mull, ferry cancelled due to erratic weather, forced to find accommodation for the duration, stumbled on Glenforsa. An ace in the pack, enchanting and warmly comfortable log cabin hotel with stunning views. Friendly & flexible friends (calling them staff would belittle them & be an understatement). Nothing beyond the pale, when I was a friend in need, they were friends indeed. On second thoughts writing this review might prove counter productive, there might be no room at the in next time (and very soon; I trust) I venture there.

Room Tip: Don't mention wheelie bins, or power shower chords.

Stayed for just an overnight but could easily have stayed longer, a friendly welcome, great wee lodge of our own, great scenery, amazing food and all at a very reasonable price. Wish I had my own wee plane so I could fly in for weekends.
