We had five different B&B hosts on our trip to Scotland, all we wonderful except for Diane who came over as pretty frosty from first meeting.
On arrival, she chose to highlight the 10 rules that we were to follow - no one else had such as list. For example, we could use the breakfast area to sit in "only when it was not being used for other meals" (...there is only one room for hire and Diane and Andy ate in their kitchen so why bother with the rule?) She then informed us that breakfast would be at 8am, "because we have our own things we want to do in the day" - we were offered no choice in the matter. Not a good start and on the first night we even considered terminating the stay...
At another time she referred to her customers as her "pesky guests" who got in the way of her own travelling. It seemed that running the B&B was a chore that she'd rather not have. Our other B&B owners clearly enjoyed meeting people and having a chat and finding out about them. Clearly, not Diane.
On departure, Diane pointedly asked Andy to check the total on the cheque - which we'd written from their own invoice left on the breakfast table. The Austalians call this type of behaviour "very ordinary"....If I had a choice, I would avoid this B&B.
