“Fantastic self cater”

Although quite different for us, from the usual B and B, this self cater cottage was perfect. About 2 minutes from Stornaway this place was amazing. Owner met us out front after the Ferry docked, which was behind. Then after setting us up allowed us to follow her into town to the local Thai restaurant.

The house was spotless, up to date, with a huge amount of amenities. Everything we could ask for. The price was exceptionally fair, and the view from the back yard was incredible. We are so happy to have such an amazing place and this will be a hard one to get a room at as more people become aware. Tons of living space, three rooms, fresh linens, and everything that should be expected, but are often forgotten, in a self catered facility.

Thanks for making our trip amazing.

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Stoneyfield Cottage and it was fantastic. Ancris and Iain are wonderful hosts, nothing was too much trouble. There was a very generous welcome pack of supplies to get started, as change over day is a Sunday, there are no shops open on a Sunday in Lewis, this was very helpful. The house was perfect for our needs and extremely comfortable and has everything a family might need for a holiday, even wifi for the teenagers (and others). All the bedrooms are a generous size, the beds lovely and comfy and the back porch and utility makes it easy to keep sand etc out. The house is situated about a mile out of Stornoway surrounded by farmland, you get a lovely sea view front and back and a lovely view of the whole town. We had our dog with us and he loved the enclosed garden and the frequent visitors at the fence (cows). We are frequent visitors to Lewis and we have defiantly found our preferred place to stay. Thank you Ancris, we will defiantly be back.

Just perfect. Would not look any further for other accommodation when we return. A very warm welcome and a very well stocked fridge.
Exceptionally clean and well furnished.

“Absolutely excellent”
Reviewed April 21, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Immaculate, fully equipped 3 bad semi detached house with great views of the bay. under two miles to the centre of the town. Stayed 10 days. Very comfortable, warm / well insulated. Owner could not have been more helpful. Spotted us getting off the ferry and at night was there to greet. Happy with our dogs, wood flooring in passageways and kitchen / lounge areas. Wifi which works well perhaps not quite fast enough to stream? But then it is in the outer Hebrides.
One twin, a double and a large King bedroom. Two shower rooms one which is en suite. Nice and quiet apart from a few lambs if the window was open! No traffic noise, good parking etc. Friendly neighbour.
Only problem is that it is booked up when we next need it. Strongly recommended.

“Fabulous Cottage”
Reviewed August 26, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We were greeted on arrival by Iain & Ancris Scott, who couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They had left a fantastic welcome pack for us which included, Charlie Barley's black pudding, sausages, bacon, eggs, bread, milk, fruit, flowers & chocolates etc.

The house is homely & spacious, with a modern interior and is well set out. One of the bedrooms is en-suite with a king sized bed. The other two bedrooms, can be set up as twin or super king sized beds and will be set up to suit your individual needs, must add the beds were super comfy. A very comfortable living room with plenty of seating, flat screen TV/DVD, multi fuel stove with additional heating throughout and not forgetting the all important wi-fi, which is a must in this day and age. A spacious kitchen, with everything you need, matching crockery and a dinning table that sits six comfortably. The house also has a separate utility room and bathroom, with an additional shower over the bath.

This truly is a home from home, with fantastic views over Broad Bay and Stornoway and all within a five minute drive from town. My five year old son, loved being on a working farm and would spend hours outside, watching Iain on his tractor and is desperate to go back at the same time next year.

I have now booked Stoneyfield South for next summer, but truly hope we will manage back before then. A fantastic find, run by a fantastic family and I know we will be returning every year, that is possible to do so.

“Peaceful, comfortable, clean cottage”
Reviewed August 14, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We were warmly welcomed by the owner on our arrival as pre-arranged. We were given a quick tour of the premises and advised about essentials water, heating etc. The owner had provided an extremely generous food hamper - milk, bread, butter, biscuits, even sausages, bacon, eggs and black pudding from a local butcher. ( We've stayed in a few s-c properties over the years and some owners have been frugal given the price you pay for the property.) The house was very clean and more spacious than we had anticipated which was a bonus given we are a family of 6. The location is less than a 10 min drive from the town centre but you can also walk if you don't mind the busyness of the main road. We saw some lovely sunsets and as it overlooks the sea route going in and out of the port there always seemed to be something on the water to watch! There was enough parking space for at least 2 cars. There is a very good sports centre in Stornoway and numerous interesting sites throughout the island to see as well as the beautiful beaches - if you get the weather! I was impressed with the number of places in the town you could go for a coffee etc right into the evening. The Castle Grounds is a lovely place for walks and there are a number of play parks for younger families.

“Absolutely fantastic!”
Reviewed August 11, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We struggled to find accommodation having planned a late escape and we feel incredibly lucky to have found this absolute gem of a cottage. It is perfect and we cannot fault it at all as it provides all that you need for an enjoyable stay.
Everything that we needed was provided, including ingredients for a complimentary breakfast for our first morning here. The cottage was wonderfully well-equipped, with all that you could wish for including a bowl of fruit, fresh flowers and even a bowl of chocolate treats!
Stoneyfield South Cottage looked good on the website and the reality is better in our opinion.
The owner is incredibly welcoming, thoughtful and helpful.
We would highly recommend this cottage.
