Just back from a fabulous stay this hotel cannot give price as it was part of a tour package. staff were brilliant nothings too much trouble our room was a twin it was spacious well decorated spotlessly clean & the bathroom had everything you could want including a good shower Food was first class at both breakfast & dinner The bar was on the expensive side £24 for Sav Blanc but it was a very nice NZ wine This is the hotel I would stay at if I returned to Stornoway you won't be disappointed

.A wet Tuesday afternoon in late summer and the Hotel was invaded by not just one, but two well-filled tour coaches which disgorged their passengers (with one group from Bavaria and {ours} a collection of English Seniors).
A recipe for chaos you might think - but no. Reception was efficiency personified with keys and smiles dished out with equal measure. And that welcome is what set up the tone for the whole stay. Service was good throughout and, indeed, went well beyond the call of duty when day manager Deborah took control of a situation in which one of our group required hospital care. No taxi for him - it was the Deborah own-car shuttle service straight to the local A&E, with no fuss.
The rooms were roomy and clean, the food (especially the ad lib breakfast with Michelin star haggis and local black pudding!) was tasty and ample and the location well placed for the sights of Stornoway.
A jolly good show all round.

The menu was very limited and the food was almost in-eatable.
It was typical pub food, however much worse than I have experienced in my travels around Scotland.
The room was quite noisy, which was OK and the staff were friendly and helpful.
I could not recommend the food.

The Cabarfeidh (Pronounced caberfay) was a pleasure to stay in. We enjoyed a good room, well appointed with trouser press, good quality toiletries and hot drink making facilities. Spacious and well presented. Sound conducts very well from adjacent rooms, although the beds sturdy and quiet for guests with discrete romantic designs! The hotel itself was attractive and nicely modernised. Dining areas have clearly had a lot of work put into them to light them and make them comfortable and welcoming. Parking is ample. There is a lift. Food was to a good standard. The hotel thoughtfully added white roses to decorate our table as it was Yorkshire day.

This hotels redeaming feature is the quality of its restaurant (reviewed separately). The rooms were very tired, the bathrooms in particular. The hallways are lovely! But clearly you are not sleeping there... The check in was delayed as no one was behind the desk! (We rang the bell several times!) the service in the hotel bar area was sporadic - eventually needing to track down to staff to order & pay! They need a waitress responsible for this area (it was very busy!)
