Greeted by exterior scaffolding on arrival did not ogre well but we settled in to our second floor which was comfortable, well decorated in bright blues and yellows and a large and small bed rather than a double which we had requested.
It is only a short walk into the busy fishing town and the castle museum so is well placed.
With tea and coffee making facilities in the room the only thing missing is a room safe which would have been useful.
The hotel is not renowned for its views and our room (39) looked over the falt roof of the large dining and function area and the effluent plant - fortunately we did not have much time to look out!
Breakfast was a relatively simple affair and group dinners were earlier than ideal for us. Food was simple and wholesome in the Solas restaurant, although we had a private rather uninspiring area.
Staff were friendly and engaging and this is certainly a good place to stay particularly if you want to avoid the bustle of town.More
