The early bird menu (5-7pm) is a great bargain at £18 for two courses or £22 for three: well cooked and generous portions without being stupidly big. We went a bit off-piste and had chips with our steak (£4 supplement but worth it) instead of mash - no problems for the waiter or chef. The steaks were excellent, accurately cooked, and seemed bigger than the advertised six ounces so full marks there. My wide fancied the fruit salad starter as a dessert - again not a problem.

Service was very good to start off with but tailed off a bit as the evening progressed, possibly if there hadn't been a couple of large groups dining we wouldn't have had to try so hard to get the bill. Certainly worth a repeat visit if we're ever in Stornoway again.

Recomended to us and exceeded our expectations even though we saw good reviews. Having been on all the other islands we ordered local dishes and the food was simply amazing. Scallops and red deer are a recommended combo. Well worth a treat.

Having tried and liked the Royal Hotel's HS-1 bar restaurant next door we thought it worth having a meal in the hotel's own dining room. It was in no way disappointing and considering the quieter and more serene ambience, was well worth the money.
Full marks.

We have eaten at this restaurant a few times over the last few years, and have never been disappointed. In fact, now that we have eaten at all the restaurants on the island, this one comes out top.

The food is not cheap, but always of a good quality, with a a-la-carte menu with reasonable sized portions.

The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff attentive and friendly, so you feel like you are going for an evening out rather than rushing your way through a meal.

The food in this hotel restaurant was excellent, but the furniture could do with a re-furb as it was showing signs of wear.

Watch out for the low light fittings.
