Decided to eat in Golden Ocean as it was closest to accommodation - it was blowing a howling gale and the rain was horizontal, so didn't want to go any further than I had to.
The restaurant was freezing - a very pleasant waitress informed me that the heating was on and it would be fine in ten minutes!!! It was still as cold when I left as it was when I went in.
However, the meal was excellent - well cooked and tasty - but it would have been a lot more enjoyable if the ambient temperature allowed one to remove outdoor clothing.
The wine list is very limited but I enjoyed a very pleasant Merlot. Despite the horrendous weather, I noted that the adjoining takeaway section was busy - I get the impression that the locals use the premises well - but the takeaway rather than the restaurant. This could be a truly excellent facility if the owners would take as much care of the environment as they do of the food preparation. The place needs a right good face lift and modern heating - if that happens it will be on par with the other excellent eating facilities in Stornoway
