“Comfort and Convenience”
Reviewed September 11, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Warm and friendly welcome from Susan to a lovely cottage, very well appointed, and extremely comfortable. Great position, being a few minutes from the ferry terminal, most opposite the village green and beach, and just yards from the Post Office, Co-Op, and pub !
We will be back.

“Warm, comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped !”
Reviewed March 20, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

A very cosy house with everything you could possibly need. Lovely welcome from Susan and everything ready for us. Spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, satisfactory shower and well equipped kitchen.
Very handy for the ferry, only a couple of minutes to the harbour.
Small coop just a few yards away and Islay Hotel also handy for a nice meal.

“Wonderful location, spacious and comfortable”
Reviewed October 18, 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Everything we needed and more for a comfortable stay. Within walking distance of the ferry, next door to the Ardview Inn - a great local place to try a lot of whiskies. Islay Hotel and SeaSalt were excellent for dinner, within a few blocks. Ardbeg, Lagavulin, and Laphroaig are within a beautiful 3-mile walk on a paved path. (A bit far for "walking distance") by some standards, but a really scenic walk if you have the time and ability). Susan was kind and helpful, meeting us when we arrived, and she and the owner went out of their way to make things right when there was a problem with the fridge. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. A fantastic stay!

“Excellent but staircase difficult for seniors”
Reviewed September 17, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Sadly, due to illness, I could not make the trip but wife and friends were impressed. Right in the centre of the seafront, close to the pub and the excellent Islay Hotel, the accommodation was well up to expected standard. Lack of en-suites was perhaps the down side. The cost was on the high side so expectations were high. Not disappointed!

“A Well Equipped Cottage In A Beautiful Location”
Reviewed August 28, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

From the initial email from the owner, packed full of useful information, and the welcome tour by the friendly housekeeper Susan I knew that this was going to be a lovely holiday. These people really care about your stay and have equipped the cottage to make it really comfortable.

Port Ellen is a perfect base for doing the whiskey tours of Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Lagavulin. We managed to visit all three in a day!

Thanks again to John and Susan

Management Response
Aug 19, 2015
Following this short stay we should perhaps remind all guests that Islay65 is a self catering outlet without resident housekeeper. It is not a guest house, a bed and breakfast or a hotel. Any changes to advised arrival time, whether resulting from a change in travel plans, a breakdown or ferry delays/diversions, should be advised to our house keeper in good time by text or phone call. Her telephone number is provided to guests for this purpose. As a self catering outlet it is furthermore the responsibility of guests to provide their own toilet rolls, kitchen towels, hand soap, tea, coffee, etc.for the period of their stay. A limited but quite generous supply of these 'essential commodities', including milk, is provided in the cottage for the use of guests when they first arrive but it is not intended that this alleviate guests of their inherent responsibility to provide their own supplies.
